How would Penn Pursuit V combo hold up for inshore stripers?(specs below)

Hello guys, I was wondering how the Penn Pursuit V 8ft MH 5000 would hold up for inshore fishing off the east side of Winthrop, MA? Should I size down to 7ft M 4000? I wanted to select the Pursuit V because it has a sale on the Penn website right now, and seemed like a good deal that met my requirements, but I just wanted a second opinion before I bought it. Also, 30LB braid with 25LB fluoro would work for this?

Any tips for night fishing?

I was fishing last night between 8-10pm, the sun set at 8:02pm. The striper were pretty active on the top water, jumping for prey; it was exciting to see. I cast everything I had with no luck, not even a nibble. I didn't have live bait, but I threw top water plugs, metal lip plugs, pencil poppers, a whooper plopper, swim baits, glide baits, and jigged with bucktails. My leader is probably 10-12' of 25# monofilament. Lures were tied directly to the leader; I forgot swivels at home. They weren't interested in any of it. It's possible I just got skunked, but I was fishing all the above right in front of their faces for two hours without a single nibble. Just wondering if anyone might be able to share any tips for better success in the future. Thanks!

Cts vapor trail 3-5

I'm thinking about picking up a cts vapor trail. I'm just curious how people feel about them. How true is the weight rating? Are the rods super moderate? If anyone has some comparisons to other rods.

Van Staal VR125

I have an opportunity to pick up a van staal vr125 (spooled) for $400. I mainly throw 4-6” paddle tails and some plugs. I was hoping for some second opinions.

Basic striper line setup question (newbie here)

I work on the coast in NH, and at work we have some piers, a jetty and a few spots where the grass pretty much runs into the river. I want to leave a rod at work for fishing, but i want to be able to change from a minnow to weighted chunks to whatever without having retie the line.

I have 20lb braid. Can i just put a barrel swivel on the end, and everything off of that? If so, what size?

For instance, can I run a sp minnow lure with off the swivel, or should i have a leader tied to the minnow?

I hope that makes sense, and thanks for any help.

Buzzards bay is on fire

3 overslots that I got pictures of today that ate the glidebait! Caught a couple more low 30” class fish on top of countless schoolies as well!!

Fishing Cart is stacked. What else can I add? 😅

My fishing cart is wild. From foldout floating tables, solar powered LEDs, rear view mirror, scap tube, rod holders, kayak mount system with cupholder, phone holder, cutting board, tripod/livewell holder. Bait knife and tool storage, machete/saw, removable milk crate with 2 attacked rod holders, and I'm sure more I'm forgetting.

I can now tow my portable grill I've realized. What's next? 😅

What type of bait

I was fishing tonight and the bass were feeding like crazy on these tiny 1 inch long minnows. I threw an sp minnow and a smaller 3 inch version of that lure, then poppers, and paddle tail but nothing really hit it very frequently. I caught one small 18 inch bass but then it was crickets the rest of the time despite the bass jumping in front of me the whole hour and a half. Any strategy or lure for fishing this situation or just is it just being patient?

Stripers

Hi all, looking for advice/recommendations on an inexpensive (maybe under $150) rod and reel combo that would be good for striped fishing off the shore, primarily in a river near the ocean. I’ll primarily be fishing Bass River on Cape Cod but maybe off the beach in the Nantucket Sound on occasion. I’m trying to get into saltwater fishing and kinda lost with all the options out there!

Thanks for reading and happy fishing!

Thinking of ditching waders for wet suit but have questions anyone here use one?

My only concern really is my feet, I usually have to wear some type of foot warmer in my stocking foot waders. Do surf booties keep your feet dry?

Some fish from buzzards bay this week!

4 slot/overslots out of some buzzards bay backwater all on an 8 inch berkley chop block glidebait! The stripers are migrating fast and the fishing is good all around MA/RI right now!
