Very happy to be able to target Muskie again after a week of rain dropped the water temperature back down to the low 70s. I caught this 38” beauty on a double bladed maribou spinner I made, and then lost the lure to the river shortly after.

This is the second Muskie I’ve caught that was previously tagged by the Department of Environmental Conservation. They had a tagging program here about 10 years ago and it seems there are still a healthy population of Muskie in the Southern Tier area of the Susquehanna River.

I caught my second Muskie in two weeks kayak fishing yesterday. Measured 40” on the nose. Caught on a Mepps Inline spinner in the same spot as the last one I posted. I was able to safely release it back into the river with minimal stress to the fish.

I caught this monster in the Susquehanna River today in Vestal, NY while fishing from my kayak. Got it on a Yakima Musky inline spinner. Slightly over 40” according to the ruler on my kayak paddle (which goes to 40” haha)

I was able to safely release it And noticed it was previously tagged.

I've been chasing this fish my entire life and it was a crazy experience to finally catch one. It was the biggest fish I’ve ever landed.

any guesses on the weigh?

I’ve caught a handful of Pike so far this year on the Chenango River in Upstate NY. Here’s some photos and locations I’ve caught them in while fishing from my kayak.

My goal this year is to try like hell to catch one in the 40” range. So far the biggest has been just under 30. I’ve mainly been trolling jerkbaits and casting large in-line spinners (Mepps Musky Killers) in under 10ft of water since it’s been warming up. Water temp is currently just below 65F

Any advice on where to find/catch a monster Pike?
