Since nobody talks about this for some reason I’m asking here

Pike have a reputation for being easy and aggressive and going after big huge baits, but where I live (Colorado) that’s not the reality, there is so much fishing pressure that they’re very hard to catch.

Every video on YouTube that talks about best lures or techniques or whatever completely neglects to talk about fishing pressure which is really annoying, honestly it’s the same with bass YouTubers too.

If any of you deal with excessive fishing pressure, how do you go about it? I’m not looking to catch big pike necessarily, just any pike of any size. Any advice for this would be welcome, thanks!

Your favorite set ups for Northern Pike and Pickerel/Walleye

I am going on an 8 Day fishing trip up into Northern Quebec and am always curious to hear other peoples recommendations/ preferences. Primarily the species that will be in the lake will be Northern Pike and Walleye.

I've got two spinning rods/reels and a Bait-casting set up. As of late I have all my rods spooled up with a heavy duty braided line (30 or 50lb test) and then running a Fluorocarbon leader (12lb test) and this seems to be doing pretty decently as far as line goes but would love to hear some other suggestions or what you would run.

the Pike up there can get fairly large, to give you an Idea; the largest one I caught last time I went up that way was about 30lbs

As far as Lures go, typically I will use bucktail spinners, top-water rigs like poppers/walkers, lipped and lip-less crank baits, or honestly just Jig heads with some double tail soft plastics. But again I'd love to hear some suggestions

Will this stuff work for light pike?

Hi guys! I’m a bit of a noob to pike fishing (and fishing in general lol). I usually go for perch and trout, but wanted to try some pike when I go back home. Is this gear appropriate/ am i missing stuff? I couldnt find any fluoro leader but I have 15lb mono line if that would work as a sub. Is this stuff a little light for pike or will I be ok?

3000 reel
25g cast weight 8ft telescopic
15lb, 0.16mm braid line
Wire snap leaders

And those hard lures, They range from 20-21g.

Thanks for any info you guys can give. Excited to try catch my first!

Lures

Picked these up at a garage sale and was curious as to an approximate value. Any help would be appreciated. All look new except the top left has rusty hooks. I’m Assuming these are Muskie/pike lures from their size.

Finally cracked 40 after 4 years of the first week in June.

Been coming to northern Saskatchewan and after 4 years and i finally joined the 40 club with a 41” hog. I set the hook and thought i was snagged on a log, she did not move at all🤣 caught her on a xps swerve glide bait, she inhaled the thing lol.

What do you consider the most beautifull pike you caught?

Not per se your biggest catch, but nice patterns / colours? For me its this very dark pike...

This little bugger saved the blank today!

No… he did not take the moustache mouse 😆 I was after some bigger pike, my local canal is absolutely terrible for big fish due to a lot of things. People taking fish is a big one, mishandling too but there’s also lots of cormorants, mink & goosanders. You’re extremely lucky to get a pike 2lb+, so much so my PB from it is 1.5lbs, despite fishing it for 2 years, but a 7-8lber was caught recently on the stretch I fish so I thought I’d chuck around some of the bigger lures. Got a little fed up towards the end so stuck on the 10cm rocky roach & it livened up. I landed this little bugger first, I also lost one slightly larger due to it tailwalking & spitting the hook along with having a few ambitious tiddlers swipe & attack it a few times lol.

Pike fishing warm summer

Any tips for this? In 2 weeks I’ve only caught 1 pike, no followers, no bites, nothing.

The water is warm just like the days, any tips for that?

I’ve used dead bait and lures of all kinds and sizes

Pike have good vision ?

So yesterday i caught a "big" Pike (70cm/80cm) on third cast while i was fighting it from the shore i am pretty sure he saw me. I grab my net and he unhook himself.

I was never able to catch it again with the same lure (drunk dancer). I try other lure, speed etc...

In that case do you think he know that i was there ? What would you do in that situation ?

The spot is the meeting point of 2 big river, with a calm zone and "deep" (4/5m i guess) zone, it was pretty windy. Caught a small wels catfish there a week before

I threw together a massive spinner for a YouTuber in Canada. Can't wait to see what he lands on it!

Hunting for a 40” on the Chenango River, Southern Tier NY

I’ve caught a handful of Pike so far this year on the Chenango River in Upstate NY. Here’s some photos and locations I’ve caught them in while fishing from my kayak.

My goal this year is to try like hell to catch one in the 40” range. So far the biggest has been just under 30. I’ve mainly been trolling jerkbaits and casting large in-line spinners (Mepps Musky Killers) in under 10ft of water since it’s been warming up. Water temp is currently just below 65F

Any advice on where to find/catch a monster Pike?
