My daughter encouraged me to build Arti, an App for parents to organize all their kids artworks and also preserve the special memories behind them forever.

The short Story:
As a father getting almost daily cute drawings/artworks from my daughter I ran into two main issues.
-1: I cant keep all of them even though I want to. All my boxes are already full, and the fridge looks like there has never been any stainless steal on it.
-2: Some artworks really tell a story. I don’t want to forget like a special handcrafted birthday gift or the first handwritten “dad” on it. Keeping only the photos in the default photo app wasn’t the right place for me (because of missing features and missing appreciation of the artworks). So there was this one moment my daughter found an older doodle of her in the bin and she started crying. This was when I decided to build Arti as the solution. Designed for parents like me.

About the App:
The idea simplified is that Arti is some kind of a digital gallery for your kids artworks to preserve not only the artwork but also the memory behind it. You can add drawings (or any kind of artwork) by a photo(s) with categories, helpers, voice notes and places. Share artists (over icloud) with family members or friends, collaborate, and see some fun stats and little leveling elements. The goal is to preserve the moments in a special way so it’s also okay that you let go of a few physical drawings with your kids permission. There is no data collection at all, all data is stored locally on device and in iCloud plus an export functionality for your data. Its your data and always keep yours in a safe way.

Some facts about me and how I built Arti:
I am in my mid 30’s, father and building small Apps on the side for over 6 years now. Arti took me about 8 months to release the first version (can only build in the evening). Build natively with Swift and SwiftUI (a little bit UIKit) in Xcode. Hired a human designer for the first mockups in order to help me getting the look I wanted. Used some AI to increase my workflow and localizations but want to highlight that this is not an AI slop. Besides some artists banners (for customizations) all images within the app are created by human, especially I am proud about the real kids drawings all over the world in the onboarding. I have already published many updates, but more on the way. I use it frequently myself now and I have already saved more than 200 artworks of my daughter. Its really a cool feeling every time we are visiting some friends and my daughter wants to show them the app (she just want to flex with her artworks though :D).

Pricing:
It's free without any ads but with limited functionalities. There is a Pro version comes with a lifetime iap for $9,99 or a cheap alternative yearly subscription with even a free trial plus family share for both options!

Feedback:
I really would love to get some feedback. If you find something odd or think something is missing here please let me know. Happy to read and answer all comments.

Thanks for reading and have a great Sunday with friends and family everyone.

TL;DR:
Too many valuable artworks of my kids. So I built a solution to keep them and the stories behind them. Better alternative to the default photo app (more features and designed for this purpose). Its free, but has a $9,99 Lifetime Pro Option and here is the link:

It took me nearly two years to build a private Fishing Log & Journal app for iOS, long before AI app-building was even a thing. Should I jump on the AI wave with it? Looking for honest opinions. More in info section.

Lately, I’ve seen more and more fishing(logbook) apps being built probably over a weekend with AI. And out of curiosity, I checked out a few of them. Some were actually not too bad(or just different?) when it comes to design and functionality. At the same time, all of them feel very similar. Polished, yes but also really generic. Like they all follow the same template. Plus often too complex, too crowded, and missing that personal feel at all. Well, that is at least what I think but I am a bit of influenced of course.

A while ago, one of my users told me that my app looks a bit outdated and that I should give it a modern AI-style redesign. And now I’m thinking about it. SHould I actually refresh the app look and feel? I am not a big fan of AI to be honest but on the other hand I still want to provide a great app for all users. So should I really jump on the AI wave with it?

People used to love the App for exactly what it is: simple, focused, private, and handcrafted with care. I build it initially for myself as a long lived fisherman. No unnecessary complexity, no trend-chasing just a fishing logbook that feels personal and gets update when needed.

Do I give it an AI-style refresh to make it look more "modern" or do I keep its original handcrafted identity and simplicity?

Curious what you think. Thanks for reading and tight lines!

I’m looking for 3 young artists to create a small drawing and have their work featured in my kids’ art app. More in the info section.

For more info: I’ve built an app for iOS. It’s called “Kids Art & Memory Saver - Arti”. I built it initially for myself and my family. It’s about preserving kids art and also about storing the memories behind it in a nice and playful way. Right now, I’m using some ugly AI image on the onboarding screen where I explain the app in a few steps and I don’t like AI images att all especially in an art app. I want to have some real kids or teens drawing which reflect the actual app. So my goal is to optimise the onboarding and replacing the current images with actual artworks preferably with an overlay in the bottom right corner like “Maria, USA, 14 years old”

Here you have more info about the app and you will find the link there if you want to check it out by yourself: https://www.reddit.com/r/iosapps/s/NugZv6KlpQ

If you are interested or need more info reach out to me via DM or comment "Arti". Thanks for reading. Have a nice day!

3 years old and I am already in love with her artwork portfolio.

Over the time my daughter improved so much already. So cool to see the progress within her portfolio :)

After six hours of fishing without a single bite, I finally managed to outsmart this little pike.

I think the little guy felt sorry for me. After a quick photo, he was released and is now swimming on peacefully.

Geiler Tag und Glück mit dem Wetter. So stell ich mir den Feiertag vor!

Zwar „nur“ 3 kleine Hechte aber Spaß hat’s gemacht!

Looking for five kids artists who would paint a picture for me and get featured in my iOS art app.

Hi, I’m Daniel, and I’ve been building apps on the side for six years now. My latest app was inspired by my daughter, and it’s all about kids’ art.

I don’t like AI art, so I want to replace the bad AI images in my app with actual kids drawings which fit to the app. Is anyone interested, or do you know someone who might be?

Artists should be between 8 and 14 years old. Write a comment or DM me for more details. I don’t want to share the app directly because I don’t want it to seem like an ad.

As a father getting daily cute drawings from my daughter I realized how difficult it is to throw them away. For some it seems easy, but for me its not especially when once my daughter fround one of her artworks in the bin.

So I built an iOS app called “Arti - Kids Art & Memory Saver” and released it about two months ago.

The idea is basically that Arti is some kind of a digital gallery for your kids artworks. You can add drawings (or any kind of artwork) with categories, helpers, and places. Share artists with family members, collaborate, and see some fun stats and little leveling elements. The goal is to preserve the memories in a special way so its okay that you let go of a few physical drawings with your kids permission.

The problem: I assumed other parents might like it too. Turns out they are apparently not. The app gets about 0–1 downloads a day and also a bad rating in the US because of a bug I think I have already fixed (no response from the user anymore...).

I cant and wont abandon it, because we actually use it ourselves daily. But having something in the App Store that nobody seems to care about does feel a bit rough. Curious if other parents would actually use something like this, or if I completely misjudged the problem.

How would you handle this?

TL,DR: I built an app, my family loves to preserve their kids artworks in a special way, but literally no one else cares about it. How should I continue?
