Fishing boat

Hi, just wondering does anyone own a small fishing boat around kilmore quay area/hook head/dunmore east.

Id love to privately go mackerel fishing with someone and learn as I never been on a boat for fishing before. We can talk about the price in Dms

Maynooth / Royal canal tomorrow?

Going out with the lady and I’m looking to catch anything really, just wondering if anybody knows some sections in maynooth or possibly Kilcock. Will be primarily using worms on a small hook. Thanks

West Coast Pollock

Nice 2 hour session before high tide. Westin weedless lures were doing the business, fish were taking right at our feet. Picked up two mackerel also but didn’t seem to be much around

Where are the mackerel

Aiming to fish for mackerel on Wednesday this week from shore, willing to travel to the west/south/east coast, heard the fishing has been poor in places, anywhere getting a good run of mackerel at the moment?

Little schoolie on top water lure

First time catching on a top water lure, walking the dog over clear shallow water at low water last Saturday and he smashed it 😁

Chid friendly fishing cork city

Hi, my son has been dying to go fishing so I got him a rod and some worms. We went down by the Ballincollig regional park and it was pretty disappointing because the line kept getting stuck in the rocks and the bushes along the river. Is there another spot we can go? Even if we don’t catch anything it would be great to not keep getting stuck in the rocks and bushes!

Not what I had in mind when I decided I'd do go fishing this morning - Kilmichael Point, Co Wexford

I was casting out into deeper water but ended up dragging over the rocks just in front of me a few times and kept hooking starfish.

Sea fishing in September

I normally head to Clare for a week of rock fishing for wrasse and pollack during the summer but I cant get down till the end of September this year . Is the fishing slower at that time or would they still be in close to catch on lures . Thanks

Quieter options than Cobh or Ballycotton for Mackeral

Are there any quieter options along the waterfront in Cobh to bring my son fishing for Mackeral? The pier gets kind of busy and he's only learning casting.

If anyone knows any other coastal spots please let me know. I'd travel anywhere along the coast between Ballycotton (too busy) and Carrigaline/kinsale.

West Coast

Couple of hours back west. Plenty of mackerel there. Don't listen to anyone saying they're not in. Everyone I passed on the way down said it wasn't worthwhile that there was nothing there but hit them almost immediately. Wrasse was sight fished under my feet.

Today’s office.

Went down for a wander in the water on the spring low, spinning rod and silver kilty. As the use started pushing mackerel were making themselves known,(no point posting pics of mackerel, we’ve all seen them 🤣)

At about two hours from low I got a bite!! Definitely wasn’t a mackerel, but wasn’t a bass or seatrout either….

… wasn’t till I got it closer I saw what it was……

….a garfish!!!!!

To say I was surprised would be an understatement and then some, haven’t seen them this far in the bay ever!

Didn’t get a photo cause I was nearly chest high in the water, and my phone was nicely kept dry with the waders at hip height! And as much as I like garfish for eating I let this one go as it was a little bit on the small size..
