Never Mind the Pollocks (Kilmore Quay, Ireland)

Was out on the Karen Ann today, put me on some excellent pollock. Used the 5/0 Shakespeare Gummi Makk rig to avoid the dinks. Great time was had!

Finally after a year and a half!!

First time I ever targeted bass I caught 2 small dinks and this morning after some great advice from this sub I landed this amazing fish. Size 8 foot for reference but also a thick well fed fish!

Was having a shit week and last night was tough thought I’d clear the head and cast aimlessly for a few hours.

It didn’t seem right to keep and she swam off.

Pick up your bloody plastic and rubbish !

Went down to Dalkey today for a few casts off the rocks. It was honestly such a kip, it smelt like the afters of a music festival. While fishing I could smell days old beer cans and piss everywhere, not alone the endless amounts of plastic wrapping from feathers and fishing line.

Will not be returning.

First time fishing in royal canal

21 years living near the royal canal I never fished it😂
So I said I’ll pop by and spend 30-40 mins with a lure.
5 little European perches in the span of an hour and a half.

Im getting bites on my sandy andy 13cm but no matter when i try to set the hook its like the fish never actually have the hook in their mouth like they are only getting the tail of my lure , are the fish too small or do i just suck?

This fella was caught on a treble hooked spinner

Salmon fishing - where to go?

Hi everyone,

My wife and I will be traveling to Ireland next week (around 9–15 July) and will be based mostly in the Galway area. We'd love to spend a day or two fly fishing for salmon. I've been reading through this forum and a number of other sources, but to be honest, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the information. I was hoping some of you could point us toward a few good rivers or stretches where we might still be able to get permits or licenses on such short notice. This is a very spontaneous trip, so unfortunately we didn't have the chance to plan ahead. We're aware that salmon fishing has been declining in recent years, and we're keeping our expectations realistic. That said, this will probably be our only opportunity this year to try for our first salmon, so we'd really like to give it a shot.

We're happy to drive up to about two hours from Galway if it's worth the trip. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

What the hell is flowing through the river in Dublin?

Took this photo yesterday around the Docklands.

There’s a long rainbow-coloured slick on the surface of the water and it looks a lot like fuel, oil, or some kind of chemical runoff. I’m not saying that’s definitely what it is (you can smell fuel tho) but it looks pretty nasty.

Does anyone know what this could be, where it might be coming from, or whether it should be reported somewhere? Am I overreacting or are we literally letting this flow through the river?

8 species crossed of the catch list!

Gave the harbour a bash with micro fishing and it payed off big time! Caught 30+ little fellas over around a 6hr fishing trip . Ide also already caught pollock but the young ones still look deadly.

How to approach this area

Fly fishing this area in Wicklow, I know it holds fish but they won't take any of my flies. Theyre rising consistently in the deeper side. New to the game so any advice helpful.
