Product Review: YakAttack seat cushion

No affiliation whatsoever, just wanted to put this out there for anyone who may be looking to up their kayak comfort game. I bought this at my local outfitter after going there to check out the Kayak Kushion, which I'd heard lots of good things about. However, when I got my hands on one, it just felt really thin and cheap, like it wouldn't offer any real support or comfort. I was about to leave empty handed when I saw they had the Yakattack cushion. It was substantially larger, thicker, more firm, and overall had a higher-quality feel about it, and it was $15 less than the Kayak Kushion. I bought the medium-firm density version and used it that night and the next day. I have to say I've been very impressed - it fits my seat (NuCanoe Fusion 360) perfectly, stays in place when I sit and move around on it, and, most importantly, I feel like I'm sitting on a nice ergonomic office chair in my kayak now. It made a huge difference in the degree of fatigue I felt in my butt and lower back after 4-6 hours in the seat - basically none!

I highly recommend checking this out if you're in the market for a seat cushion.

Yakattack Shortstack-stacking?

Does anyone know if you can add the Shortstack upgrade to the Shortstack Solo? I've got an email out to Yakattack customer support but they don't seem to be responding - figured someone here would know. TIA

Quickline anyone?

Does anyone here remember the Pac Bay Quickline series fly blanks? They were really nice, but were discontinued in 2019 or 2020. I would love to get my hands on a 9' 6wt. 4pc. (FAF906-4) - if, by chance, anyone here has one or knows someone who has one that they'd sell, I'd be hugely grateful if you could connect me.

Failing that, I would love recommendations from experienced builders as to what might be a comparable blank that's currently available.

PM Hoppers?

I will be floating a section of the Pere Marquette tomorrow. Hoping for some hopper/terrestrial action. Anyone know if that surface bite is any good right now?

Slang insult?

When I was a teenager, I worked at a steakhouse that was owned and staffed entirely by Greeks except for the busboys, who were all American high school kids like myself. They employed a fair bit of Greek slang, most of which we eventually figured out, such as malaka, for example. The word I am curious about was pronounced (phonetically) "bray-kah-lohs-toe". It was their standard greeting every time I arrived at work. "Brekalosto Bryon!" every time. Anyone know what it means? (I'm assuming it wasn't flattering, but I find that amusing, so if you know, feel free to be honest.) 🙂 (EDITED to make my language less racist; my apologies.)

I'm looking for one of these discontinued blanks - if anyone has one or knows where I can find one, I'd be in your debt if you could hook me up.

Thanks!

Finally Happened to Me

I've been selling on FB Marketplace for a few years now and have never experienced any of the weird stuff I hear people talking about on here. I sell sets of fishing flies, and a guy sent me an offer in one today. I agreed, then he wants to pay via Venmo - fine, I say. Then he's like, "Okay, I'll pay as soon as I get notification that it's shipped."

Um...is this your first day as a consumer, or....? No.

Block and move on; but I feel like a "real" seller now lol

I've been on Etsy for 5 years. My store sells fly fishing nets that I handcraft from hardwoods in my woodworking shop. I normally have only about 5 listings at any given time, but I do also offer custom builds, which account for about half my business. (Etsy shows me as only having 12 sales, but the actual number is about 2-3 times that because when people reach out to order custom builds, I simply have them pay me through Paypal or Venmo and the sale doesn't go through the Etsy app.)

Typically, in any given 7-day period, if I'm showiing 20 or more visits, that's about as good as it gets. Just in the past week, though, my traffic has really spiked - doubling every couple of days until it now sits at 104.

This seems like a great thing, and I'm happy about it, if a little mystified. The only thing I've done differently of late is that I added a couple of listings for products that are not nets. Whenever I add a product to the shop, I post about it on Instagram and Facebook.

What seems odd to me, beyond just the sudden surge in traffic, is that it hasn't resulted in a single sale yet. My products are very competitively priced with those of my competitors (other net builders), and are of equal or better quality and workmanship. Heck, I've even been running a storewide 20% off sale for the past month.

If anyone has any feedback, insight or advice to offer, I'd be most appreciative. I'm happy to share the name of my store if that's allowed in this sub.
