How do you all deal with needy buyers?

This guy placed an order for a handmade custom product on Wednesday, because the item quantity was 3 when he placed the order he expected it to be shipped out immediately (despite the 3-5 day processing time given on my store). I rushed it for him and shipped it Friday the 14th. Now he's been messaging everyday multiple times a day because it hasn't gotten there yet. This is despite my directing him to the USPS notification for delays to his area.

Let's just say I appreciate that messaging allows me to take my time to respond professionally.

Helpful Tip for Keywords, etc.

For those of you who are new to Etsy (like me) and who didn't understand the importance of keywords and optimization before starting (also like me lol), I've starting using a couple of free websites that have been a HUGE help, so I wanted to pass it along. Alura and Listadum, which I think I found from recommendations here on Etsy, have both been super helpful. Alura in particular will review and optimize your keywords and suggest the best ones for each listing. Just a helpful suggestion I wanted to pass along! Happy selling! :)

Keeping in touch with buyers

I'm wondering when and in general max how many time should I message my customers during the shipping period?

  • courier booked
  • shipped
  • delivered - if everything's alright
  • after X days (how many do you suggest) asking for an honest review (we just started our business)

Is it too much? What are your experiences/feedback from your buyers?

Thank you!

Years on etsy

I have yet to open my Etsy store but saw that under my shop it says “5 years on Etsy” would that mess up the algorithm and it wouldn’t be considered a new store? Sorry very new to this.

Request for Shop's critique analysis.

I am selling tried and tested crochet patterns. few months back etsy has been flooded by crochet patterns generated by AI and has stolen/confused the quality customers. i need real suggestion:

  1. what i can do to improve my sales? (SEO, thumbnails/mock-ups, titles, pricing, bundles, reviews and shop branding)
  2. Shall i add any other type of product to my store?

Almost half of orders lately show as shipping late, when they are not!

I am so sick of this. I have lost star seller status because of this. My processing times are 2-3 weeks. I can ship an order a week earlier than the "ship by blah blah day" and this will still show up, marking the order as late by Etsy and further decreasing my customer service stats.

This week alone, probably more than half of my orders have shown this. I've been on Etsy for close to a decade and have never experienced this the way I have lately. Last month, 11 were shown as shipped late. The thing is, they still arrive within the estimated delivery date, every time!

I am at an absolute loss. The other day, I even had an order show that it would be late if I purchased the $60 priority express next day label, lol.

Can I Change Product Categories on Etsy

I have an Etsy shop with around 250 listings, and most of my current products are listed under the **Craft Supplies** category.

I’m now considering adding some new products, such as **brooches and jewelry sets**, which would fall under the **Jewelry** category.

Is it okay to have products from different categories in the same Etsy shop? Or does Etsy have any restrictions requiring a shop to focus on one specific category, such as Craft Supplies?

I’d appreciate any advice from other Etsy sellers who have experience with this.

Help me please!

I've been on Etsy for a whole year and haven't made one sale. Someone please look at my shop and tell me what you think I'm doing wrong. Please?

  1. Are the planners priced too high?

  2. Are the descriptions not thorough enough?

I've researched into how to do better, and I even paid to advertise 2 listings, which I didn't do for long because that gets pricey. I don't really know what to do from here, so any input would be wonderful. Thank you so much!

Multiple Shops

Hello Reddit,

I cant seem to get a definitive answer and two different Etsy support reps told me different.

I have an etsy store all in my name, if my wife opens one. (same household / IP, often the same computer) do we have to link these?

She intends to sell totally different items, so its all separate, but I don't want us to get banned but my preference is to treat these entirely separately.

What's your experience of this and advice please?

How can I offer local delivery without being charged shipping?

I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle local delivery/pickup.

For customers who are local, I’d like to offer delivery (or pickup) without having them pay the normal shipping charge. Is there a way to set this up so that customers within a certain area can select local delivery for $0, while everyone else is charged the regular shipping rate?

The case in question is that I'm currently on the hook for $40 in shipping, but they're just gonna pick it up. How can I get the shipping $ to not be deducted from my sale?

Shop stealing my original artwork, altering it by AI and marketing it as their own.

I've been running an Etsy shop doing commission work for many years. It's been pretty successful, but with the rise of cheap AI generated slop all over the marketplace, obviously my orders have plummeted.
I've kind of made peace with this (although not with the fact that AI slop is not only rampant but seemingly entirely unregulated on Etsy), but I recently discovered that somebody took nearly every single listing photo from one of my listings, ran my hand drawn art through AI, and used the altered images as their own listing photos.
Most of the images have been changed enough that I can't claim ownership of the altered versions, but one of them contains a part that has remained entirely unchanged (part of a comic book cover design).
I already reported this through Etsy's reporting portal, but it was rejected. I also messaged the seller and told them to immediately remove my work and never touch it again (this part I obviously can't actually police, but I'm appalled that they're directly feeding my work into some AI system by running it through this shit), needless to say, to no avail.
I've now reached out to Etsy's legal team via email with more evidence, hoping that an actual person will review my claim, but if that doesn't work out either, is there anything else I could do to get this removed?
At this point, I don't even care about the lost sales anymore, I've had enough of Etsy and its temufication with its dropshippers and AI “artists” flooding the market so it was only a matter of time for me to leave the platform, but this is genuinely infuriating, and I want my work immediately removed and more importantly never associated with this person's shitty AI-slop shop.

Australia to Europe shipping

Hello! Anyone has any experience or advice regarding shipping from Australia to Europe?

Australia Post seems to be unable to collect duties and taxes and the new 3euros customs fee, resulting in all parcels getting returned.

I keep getting notified that Zonos is able to do this but there is no guide and no one at the post office is able to tell me anything. The create order on the website is so bugged that practically nothing can be shipped to Europe.

Does anyone have any solution or alternatives? Perhaps experience with another carrier?

Thanks!

I found out that I'm losing money on international orders 😓

I just found out that I'm actually losing money on international orders. I sell stickers at $5.50 each. For some reason people have been ordering 1 sticker and paying for shipping to Australia or the UK (I'm a US based shop). Previously I thought well it's fine, they want to pay $23 for shipping for one sticker that's okay. I thought I was still making money.

Until I saw that etsy has been calculating their fees after they include the shipping cost... meaning on these orders I'm paying $6.50 in fees, making less than $2 in "profit". After considering the cost of packaging materials, labels and time, I'm losing money on these orders.

I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to offer international shipping for single stickers anymore but not sure if I can turn that off. Should I just refund & cancel international orders that are only one single sticker?

Help with what I can sell

So , I want to make some things and sell them on Etsy , but I'm unsure what's actually allowed .

I would want to sell essentially fan art, but I don't want to get thrown a lawsuit at me. Say I wanted to make and sell something based on Bob's Burgers , and I've seen a lot of things for sale on there from the show . How are they able to sell stuff like that without getting in trouble ?

Any advice for first e-book?

I am a watercolor artist and working on my first ebook to add to my current shop which is all physical products that I create (no POD) so this will be my first digital item. It is a beginner watercolor step by step tutorial for a specific item. Any advice specific to pricing, listing, tags etc from someone with successful ebook sales would be much appreciated!

Need suggestion on listing

One of my product is available in 6 color and 5 different qty set and I want buyers to choose color which they want so I added a mandatory personalized box where buyers have to write color name and qty they want .

My question is , will you ( as a buyers ) make this much effort to place an order where you have to write color name and qty you want before placing order? Or I should simply create variations for different colors pack ?
