Ruixin Omnix Advance vs Core
So there’s 2 days left before this concludes on Kickstarter and I’m going to be getting one. I have some general questions that I contacted Ruixin about on Instagram and here on Reddit but they’re probably busy and I don’t blame them so here goes. The Advanced version comes with a stone holder and you can buy resin bonded set that they sell for 68$. This total would be 227$. The Core version comes with vitrified diamond whetstones, the 400 and 1000 grits for 300. I’ve yet to see a video of someone reviewing the Core version and would really appreciate anybody’s input. Now here go my questions.
Given that with the advance set you have 4 ways(Benchtop, Benchstone, Handheld, and Freehand) to sharpen and with the whetstones it’s only Benchstone and Freehand, is it possible to achieve the same results or exceeding them with either set before buying accessories?
How does the 227$ Advance + Resin bonded stones stack up against the 300$ core version?
Is it worth getting the additional 3000 and 5000 stones which would bring the total cost to 497$? How much would this combination be against the 227$ advanced set?
My main reason for this questions is because I think since I’m new to this sharpening world I feel that whetstones are pretty accessible in households and not fixed angled rigs. While I understand taking the angle out of the equation is a huge plus, I also acknowledge that the skills you develop on a whetstone are pretty indispensable. I’m mainly looking for a set I could use for a good while. I know they are far better rigs and stones for that matter, just want something to last me a good time and these seem to do just that. I appreciate everybody’s input on the matter.
Safe for EDC?
Only thing I have modified internally is just the Overwatch Precision trigger shoe and that’s it. Would the TTI kit in the second pic compromise reliability at all? Any light strikes or ftf? Don’t want a sigcident in my balls. I shoot 115 for range and 147 hornady for edc.
So for starters my surefire stilleto pro 2 started yesterday with having the green indicator turned on when not being in use, I removed the battery cover and sure enough it had some corrosion on it, I proceeded to scrape a bit of corrosion and that light went away immediately. So now how would I go about cleaning this thing area? Would a hook and pick set work? Or should I just send this to Surefire and have them figure it out, lead time is 8 weeks.
