Khorfakkan vs. Jebel Jais for a weekend road trip – which one wins for you?

Looking to head out for a day trip this weekend, but torn between these two classics:

Jebel Jais: Crazy scenic mountain twisties, cooler weather, mountain peak vibes, and great views.

Khorfakkan: Stunning coastal mountain drives, beach vibes, the Amphitheatre, and Waterfall.

For anyone who’s done both recently, which one offers the better overall drive and weekend vibe right now?

Any hidden spots along either route worth checking out?

Etihad Business Class vs. Emirates Business Class — Which one wins for pure comfort?

Debating between booking Emirates or Etihad for an upcoming Business Class flight.

Emirates obviously has the iconic A380 onboard lounge and massive global brand recognition, but Etihad’s Business Studio seats on their newer fleet (and the new Zayed International Airport terminal) seem to offer a much quieter, less crowded experience.

Which screen/seat layout do you prefer (especially given Emirates' mixed 2-2-2 configuration on some 777s)?

How do the lounge experiences in DXB and AUH compare nowadays?

Which loyalty program/redemption path gives better value for the points?

Why don't we see crows in Dubai?

Am I crazy, or are there barely any crows here compared to other cities? I mostly just see pigeons, sparrows, and mynas. Are they just hiding in specific areas, or is there an ecological/urban reason why they aren't as common across the rest of the city?

Best Indian vs. Pakistani breakfast in Dubai? Drop your top spots! 🇦🇪👇

Hey Dubai foodies,

Sunday mornings are sacred, and I’m trying to settle a serious debate over breakfast today. If you had to pick between an authentic Indian or Pakistani spread to kick off the weekend, which side are you taking, and where are you going?

Here are the contenders in my head right now:

🇵🇰 Pakistani Breakfast Contenders

Halwa Puri Chana: Fresh, fluffy, piping-hot puris paired with sweet halwa and spicy chickpea masala.

Nihari & Naan: Slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth beef nihari topped with ginger, green chillies, and lemon, soaked up with fresh rogheni naan.

Paya: Rich, slow-cooked trotters with a deeply spiced broth.

Key hotspots on the radar: Al Hara Restaurant (Karama), Student Biryani, or classic spots around Naif/Deira & Barsha.

🇮🇳 Indian Breakfast Contenders

North Indian: Crisp, butter-loaded Aloo Parathas served with thick curd, pickle, and a steaming glass of kulhad chai, or classic Chole Bhature.

South Indian: Crispy ghee roast Dosa, soft steamed Idlis, and crunchy Medu Vadas washed down with authentic filter coffee.

Maharashtrian / West Indian: Spicy Misal Pav or Poha for a lighter start.

Key hotspots on the radar: Saravanaa Bhavan, Woodlands, Raju Omlet, or Sangeetha.

Help me decide:

Which cuisine wins the ultimate Dubai Sunday morning spot?

What’s your absolute go-to order?

Which hidden gem or legendary spot in Karama, Meena Bazaar, Al Qusais, or Deira am I missing out on?

Chicken Shawarma is infinitely better than a Chicken Burger, and it's not even close.

A chicken burger is literally just a fried slab or ground patty slapped on a dry bun with lettuce and mayo.

Chicken shawarma, on the other hand, gives you slow-roasted, heavily spiced, thinly shaved chicken wrapped in warm bread, dripping with garlic toum, pickles, and crisp veggies. It’s lighter, packed with way more flavor, and doesn't leave you feeling like an oily mess afterward.

Change my mind. Which one are you picking?

Plus Suggest any of yours UAE's favourite go to spot for Chicken shawarma or Chicken Burger!

Traditional Bur Dubai Abras vs. RTA Water Transport: Which one is actually better for crossing or sightseeing?

Whether you’re commuting across the Creek or taking friends around Old Dubai, marine transport is easily one of the best budget experiences in the city. But there’s always a debate on whether to stick to the traditional wooden Abras or go for the modern RTA boats (Dubai Ferry, Water Taxi, and modern AC Abras).

Here is a quick breakdown of how they compare if you’re deciding which one to take:

1. Traditional Wooden Abras (Bur Dubai ↔ Deira)

The Vibe: Authentic, breezy, and pure Old Dubai nostalgia. Sitting on the central wooden deck right above the water level is hard to beat, especially around sunset.

Cost: AED 2 per ride (cash directly to the captain).

Routes: Primarily short shuttle crossings across Dubai Creek (e.g., Dubai Old Souk to Baniyas, or Al Fahidi to Deira Old Souk).

Pros: Fast board-and-go, super cheap, no lines, amazing open-air photography angles.

Cons: Open-air (can get brutal in peak summer humidity), cash only, basic wooden benches with no backrests.

2. RTA Marine Transport (Dubai Ferry, Water Taxi & Air-Conditioned Abras)

The Vibe: Modern, sleek, comfortable, and structured.

Cost: Ranges from AED 2 to AED 50+ depending on the vessel and route (payable via Nol Card or kiosk tickets).

Routes: Covers long distances including Al Ghubaiba to Dubai Marina, Canal routes, Dubai Festival City, and Atlantis.

Pros: Full air-conditioning inside, scheduled departure times, scenic outdoor back-deck seating on the Ferry, and high comfort.

Cons: Less frequent departures, higher prices for longer scenic tours, feels more like standard public transit than a traditional experience.

The Verdict:

For quick Creek crossings & authentic vibes: Stick to the traditional AED 2 wooden Abra.

For long scenic views or summer comfort: Book an RTA Ferry or AC Abra route.

Curious to hear what everyone else prefers—do you stick to the classic AED 2 Abra, or do you prefer the RTA Ferry routes when taking visitors around?

BurJuman vs. Wafi Mall: The downfall of 90s Dubai OG malls needs to be studied

Growing up (or living) in Dubai back in the late 90s and early 2000s, BurJuman and Wafi were the luxury, elite spots to hang out. BurJuman had the iconic dancing water fountains and high-end fashion extensions, while Wafi was the stunning Egyptian-themed destination with top-tier restaurants and the best Christmas displays.

Today:

Wafi is practically a ghost town where 90% of the footfall only goes for VFS visa processing or AYA Universe.

BurJuman pivoted hard to cater to the local budget-friendly Bur Dubai crowd (Carrefour, Metro connectivity, value fashion) to stay alive.

Which one do you think handled the shift better? What missing feature or change caused them to lose their crown to Dubai Mall / MOE / Dubai Hills?
