Played with Tear dice

So, as a certified obsessive now about Final Girl, I of course found the accessories box with tear dice and additional playmat and ordered it. I first thought Tear Dice felt like cheating. That’s not how the game is run, but it certainly did break the fall a little bit when you got absolutely destroyed with a pair of 1s and 2s.
First: wow it happens a lot more than I thought.
Second: I play it as a “reserve of tears” up to 5 that I can dig into to “buy” the perk I want. I have 3 years, for example but want to buy 2 one tear perks, I do that. Or save for the higher value ones.

Short story long: I still lost but still had fun. And the tear options seemed like a nice additional dynamic.

Do you all use tear dice? Am I doing it right?

Made a Final Girl out of my daughter

I used the tool on the Van Ryder games site. So cool.

I asked whether my card game had shelf appeal. Here’s the redesign after your feedback.

I received a lot of thoughtful—and very honest—feedback on my original FIXR box design. I took it back to the drawing board and reworked the entire package.

The finished box will be approximately 2.5 × 3.5 inches.

Does this version communicate the game more clearly—and would it make you want to pick it up?

Does this rulebook intro make you want to play?

Hi all! I’m about to send my card game to print for the first batch of testers and influencer copies. It’s a relatively simple game - learn in 5 minutes, games last 15-20.

This is the first two pages of the rule book. I’d love your feedback. I’m also including an illustration from the last page that illustrates what a Sand Slicer looks like.

So my questions for you all: Is it engaging? Is it too vague? Does it make you want to play? Does the world and the game sound interesting? I realize it’s a 2 page spread from a 2.5” x 3.5” booklet, but hoping it pulls players in. Any comments - positive and critical - are welcome. Thank you!!!

Perhaps a dumb question about Maple Lane

Got Maple Lane yesterday and I really dig the dynamic and the asleep/awake mechanic. (Got lazy and lost my first round).

I sleeve all my cards. The boiler room mechanic is super cool but I find it kinda clumsy especially in sleeved cards. Any tips or advice?

3D Printed Organizer for Core and Box of Props

So, I have seen a bunch of inserts on the various 3d print sites that try to make it easy to keep all the Final Girl pieces together. But they all tried to shoe horn them into one of the existing boxes. I decided to create my own "big box" that can hold all the pieces and parts for the Core Set plus the Box of Props. It also holds all the action cards, Final Girls from whatever sets you have, and the unique character items (eyes only) for them. I made it easier to pluck victims from the box as well as added a removable, easy access tray for heart health markers. I also am quite pleased with the coffin that keeps all the tiny little pieces like the time marker and blood lust splat. There's even a special spot just for the horror track marker!

Let me know what you think!

Poll time - app, mats, box of props

Myself, I’ve gotten all 3, but I’m curious what the common setup looks like for you. If you have either the app, the Box of Props, playmats, or any combo thereof, let me know how you play Final Girl! (I ran out of options in the survey, so app and mats is missing)

Hell to Pay - yikes

The latest FF I’ve gotten is Hell to Pay because Hellraiser and Clive Barker in general have always been some of my favorite horror. But is it just me or is that one incredibly difficult. I was done in my first run in 18 minutes. The Horror wheel is a Bear.

Your Advice Turned into a second shot

Thank you all for the comments and feedback on my original card design. I've listened and taken alot of your input to heart. You were right on a bunch of things, so I wanted to share where I've come down. (There are multiple parts from different manufacturers. Here's all the engines.

And, if you want to check the original from a few days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/BoardgameDesign/comments/1utwuqh/enough_photoshop_to_be_dangerous/

Enough photoshop to be dangerous.

I have enough photoshop skill to get by. But I’ve decided to design the cards for my own card game coming to crowdfunding in october. Would love the group’s impression on these. The style, the look, etc. The parts jave been taken from the 3d CAD I created for game parts. Ive abused some photoshop filters to get this comic book look.

The game features scouring a salvage field to pull scrap parts and build your best vehicle. It’s based on the big box game world I’m creating for spring 2027 release.
Honest opinions appreciated.

Free browser playtest for my upcoming card game—looking for honest feedback

I built a browser version of my card game specifically for playtesting.

No download.

No account required.

Games take around 15 minutes.

You’re competing against AI opponents while I collect anonymous gameplay statistics to improve the physical version.

If you have a few minutes I’d really appreciate hearing:
What was your favorite moment?
Did anything feel unfair?
Would you play another round?

Here’s the link:

Looking for feedback on my digital playtest before I send my card game to print

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on a small card game called FIXR, a 10–20 minute set-collection game about salvaging racing wreckage.

I built a free browser version so I could test balance against AI and collect real play data before printing more physical copies.

I’m at the point where I’d really value outside eyes.

If anyone has 15–20 minutes, I’d love feedback on things like:
Was anything confusing?
Did you feel like your decisions mattered?
Did the game end at the right time?
Was it fun enough that you’d play again?

In exchange I’ll happily playtest your project as well.

Thanks!
