Covers based on both rerelease posters for The Devils (1971)

Still can't believe the restored release is finally happening.

I feel that both the theatrical rerelease posters are up to snuff for covers if Criterion gets the home video rights. Although WB denied them the license them the license in the past, times are different. One of the key cinematic provocations of all time, from one of the most unique auteurs, it's a no-brainer inclusion to the Collection, I think. Criterion could use more Ken Russell.

Here's to a decade of being totally, theoretically corrupted.

Late sale haul pic

  1. What is the first movie you plan to watch from your haul and why? Point Blank. John Boorman seems like an interesting New Hollywood oddball and I dig the movie's style from the footage I've seen.
  2. Is there anything from this haul that you have been looking forward to owning for a long time? I'm very happy to have Pinocchio, which was on my list last sale but Barnes didn't have it then. Network and the return Life of Brian in the Collection were nice surprised this year too.
  3. Are any of your purchases blind buys? Point Blank, The Blade, Dragon Inn, and Pee-Wee's Playhouse (much to my own surprise)
  4. What is a Criterion you’re hoping to add to your collection next? I'd like to get The Secret Agent, the Mike Mills box set, and of course, the Complete Kubrick.

Inspired by u/aturtleatoad 's post.

Since Wile E. is a desert boy with an intimate relationship with his environment, as well as explosives, his haul would go like this:

  • No Country for Old Men
  • Blood Simple
  • Fear and Loathing in Las Vagas
  • Thelma & Louise
  • Lone Star
  • Sorcerer
