I just recently watched Death Note and really enjoyed it, especially in regards to its themes and religious symbolism. With that in mind, I wanted to make a grand drawing based on some famous religious painting, which is what I'm currently working on. This drawing is meant to represent L's death, and the painting I had in mind to reference is "The Pieta" by William Adolphe Bouguereau, a depiction of Mary holding Jesus after the crucifixion. My version acts as a little subversion with Light obviously not grieving the death of his enemy, but I thought it would be interesting to have him in the spot of Mary since that's the role he would have wanted to be perceived as playing. As the title suggests, this is a work in progress, with only part of the rough sketch so far done. I'll definitely share more once I make more progress!!

I've been indoctrinated...

Hey all, I'm just making this post to officially announce that I am on board with Zutara! I used to religiously ship Kataang (I still find them to be cute, but they don't click as well as I initially thought) because I thought it was the morally right choice, but I think I was just conditioned by what I was shown in the show itself. I used to think all the lies people spread about Zutara, that it would be toxic or that it wouldn't make any sense, but upon further inspection, I no longer believe that to be true! I've been eyeing this community for the past month or so and have been fully convinced that Zutara makes much more sense, given the themes of the show about balance and redemption. Even in their few scenes post Zuko redemption, Zuko and Katara have such great chemistry and really push one another to grow. I just wish we would've gotten more content with their interactions, but I can see that that was probably the result of the creators disagreeing with the idea of the ship. You know what else is interesting? I think that Aang and Toph make a lot more sense again with that balance aspect, as Toph teaches Aang to stand his ground, while Aang helps show her freedom and connection. It's just funny that the non-canon ships wrote themselves much better than the actual canon ones. Thanks for reading my small rant about my newfound ship, and I look forward to joining this community 😂

I’m secretly rotten. My insides are infested by judgments, my skin seeping in negativity, and my core poisoned by wicked thoughts. I paint on a ripe facade, my exterior a shining red hue, as a painstaking effort to prove my benevolence. I don the disguise of my peers, my skin an aching hope that the truth of my nature remains unknown. For I am rotten to my very core, a being whose instincts are to drag all those I encounter down to my depths of self-misery. My only consolation is that I am aware of my crooked nature, my existence a constant struggle to suppress a pattern as involuntary as life itself. Perhaps that is why I won’t allow others further than skin-deep.
