I’ve been jonesing to road trip in this car and had my chance this past weekend. 755 mi on interstate, 2 lane highway, backroads, and small cities and burgs.

What a joy to drive! Used ABRP to figure out stops because charging was scarce in northern Wisconsin. We had no issues with charging at all.

This car is sooooooo pleasant to drive. The instant torque got me out of an accident when a truck/trailer combo didn’t notice I was slowing for the car in front of me turning right. Fortunately, no one coming in the oncoming lane.

Sunroof open, auto wipers, navigation, stereo…everything was amazing and added to our confidence for a first EV road trip. Spent about $40 on fast charging round trip. Met nice folks at the chargers with great nearby amenities!

D’oh! Edit! Another charge came through this morning. It was actually $76. I missed a big one. Sorry. Still, gas is $5/gal for my spouse’s car sports car (91 octane). Would have cost way more and been less pleasant. Sorry y’all for the goof. Kind of a big goof.

I just adore this car! My aged hybrid 7 SUV always had surprisingly the best turning radius in the family of vehicles at our house.

The Q8 is better than that even.

I know, I know…it shouldn’t be a surprise but it’s just so much fun to drive this car!

My kid is a gear head and loves cool cars. He helped me find my EV but said he’d never want anything other than his sports-car ICEs. And that’s fine. Everyone has their preferences.

He drove my EV on a day trip for a few hours. He’s hooked. Once he realized that my EV is the way most EVs are “wired”, he wants to sell his sports-car and get an EV.

He’s young and saved for years to buy what he has, so he doesn’t really have the means for any of the EVs in the US. He’s looked around and the Chinese EVs would be in his budget but, alas, are not available here.

His young friends like EVs too. This is a whole market of recent graduates, just now gainfully employed, potential buyers who need affordable choices.

I hope our current market changes soon.

I swerved to miss a good sized raccoon last night. Breaked quickly too. Missed the chubber!

I was amazed how easily my Q8 handled it, slowed, and was able to see it quickly with the great headlights.

AFTER the swerve and break maneuver, a red “Audi pre-sense crash detected” warning flashed on the dash screen for 5-10 seconds.

There was nothing “pre” about it. So, what is pre-sense?

I’ve had this car for a month. Noticed on our first hot day that AC was cool, but not cold. Took in for software update and brake recall. On the way home almost no AC.

Back to the shop. Compressor failed and now a supply line is failed. 3 week ship from Deutschland.

2 year old car with failed AC seems bad. I haven’t even had a first payment yet. I’ve heard others mention the sensors failing. Is this a common issue?

We are working to get charging set up in our garage and we asked the electrician about it. When I looked it up, I don’t see Audis listed but do see VW. Probably different but wondering if anyone knows more?

Yes, I read the manual and it doesn’t say. Looks like updates were made in ‘25 so the ‘24 manual wouldn’t have that info I suspect.

I have a ‘24 Q8 E-tron and didn’t think I could use a Tesla charger as all the apps filter it. And yet, I found a Lectron charging adapter in the frunk from a previous owner. I am wondering if this is safe to use?

Audi’s website talks about ‘25 models and 2019-2025 of certain models but only calls out Q4 as not compatible for fast charge. It doesn’t list the Q8 at all.

Anyone know?

I want to buy this car but the 2 year old”technology warranty” is expired. I don’t see anything about that. This dealer tried slapping all kinds of fees on and it took forever to just get what I paid to drive.

Then they started in on the warranty. I see many folks have these. Did you buy them from Audi, the used car dealership, or some other outfit? I usually don’t buy extended warranties but wondering if they cover much that would actually go wrong.
