I told the doctor I’m moving to Thailand, he said “Are you sure?”

I’m leaving the US and moving to Thailand. I had a telecommunication appointment with a doctor to establish a plan of care and to start the process of getting an invitation from the hospital to receive treatment. This is needed in order to fulfill the “medical soft power” initiative for the DTV visa.

I told this Thai neurologist my plan and he very bluntly said “Are you sure?!?” And laughed. I told him “Yes, compared to how life is in the US, I’d prefer to move abroad.” He said he lived in the US for sometime — That’s great but why are you back in Thailand if you’re questioning my choice? He was nice enough and I don’t have any complaints about his character, but what do others feel about this comment?

I admittedly would’ve said the same to anyone who was moving from a perceptively better place than the US if they told me “I’m leaving X country and I’m moving to the USA”. I would’ve also said “are you sure?”

What do people here think about life in Thailand as it relates to the US? What do you think is good? What do I maybe not realize that is a factor of life there? I’m prepared for a drastic life change, but I like to go places where the quality of life is genuinely better.

I just want my subjects to respect my heir.

I’m on my 4th or 5th play through of a different culture; currently I’m the Byzantine empire and I’m slinging that Greek culture everywhere I can. I’m running into the same issue I’ve had with every ruler, with every culture, every time, and I don’t understand why: they NEVER RESPECT THE HEIRS!

I’ve had many opportunities where I’ve had 1 son, 1 daughter, impossible for there to be feuds, and my king is basically a god to his people, and yet they just HATE his son. No matter what. Even when I land him and give him a court position, even when they’ve got 1500+ prestige to start their rule, my people start revolting. Distant relatives show up with claims, peasants realize they hate having a king, and my their wives will just start having affairs.

How on earth do people ensure smooth transitions for their heirs?

Hello friends!

I’ve made a lemon tek tea with 3.5g for 2 people before, and that seemed pretty spot on. I’m going to be making some again soon and was curious about the ratios. I’m now making it for 4-5 people of varying tolerances. Suggestions for how much to use in the tea?

Oceans of gratitude
