PING Pioneer Cart Bag – Disappointed With the “Full-Length Dividers”

I recently bought a PING Pioneer cart bag for about $330 because I wanted better club organization and was tired of my clubs getting tangled up in my old bag. One of the main reasons I chose the Pioneer was its 15-way top with full-length dividers, which I thought would solve that problem.

Unfortunately, it hasn't worked the way I expected.

The dividers in the center of the bag appear to be properly separated, but the slots around the outside are a different story. They basically have nylon divider material hanging down inside the bag, but it's not attached along the sides or secured at the bottom.

The result is that club grips from neighboring slots can still move underneath or around the divider material, rub against each other, catch, and become tangled. To me, that defeats much of the purpose of having a 15-way bag with full-length dividers.

I called PING customer support because I initially thought there might be something wrong with my particular bag. I was told that this is how the Pioneer bags are designed and that mine isn't defective.

That's what surprised me the most.

This is a premium cart bag from a company with an excellent reputation, and at roughly $330, I expected the divider system to actually keep the clubs separated throughout the bag.

Other than this issue, I like quite a bit about the Pioneer. The storage, layout, appearance, and overall quality are very good. But the divider design is a major disappointment for me because avoiding club-grip tangling was one of the main reasons I wanted a 15-way, full-length-divider bag in the first place.

For anyone who owns a newer PING Pioneer: Have you noticed the same thing? Do your clubs/grips get tangled in the outside slots, or has this not been an issue for you?

I'm curious whether other owners consider this normal for a bag described as having full-length dividers.
