I'm working on modding MMX to make Megaman into a girl – I didn't really want to go with MegaWoman or similar, so I named her Star (and so I can use a star glyph instead of "X" in text). Posting progress on my Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/transgamer.prof .

I thought I'd share my success so far – aside from a few glitches, the portrait is done and I've added the star glyph to the characterset and updated it and pronouns in the opening pages.

Happy to get some feedback, but mostly this is a passion and research project on romhacking. I've never really done pixel art or much drawing. It has taken a TONNE of researching and using the tools made by those who came before to get to this stage! I mean, I'm a classically trained computer scientist, but I've been looking at a lot of hex code.

After this, I have to adjust the armour upgrades and then change alllllll the sprites (at least all the head ones... I doubt there's enough detail to need to change much else). The script looks like there's not much to update.

Once it gets a little further along, I'll get an itch.io page up!

I might have made it harder than it needs to be... I realised halfway through that maybe I could just loop around the cover threads rather than punch through the existing stations. Still, I'm pretty happy with it – a notebook for preparing for and taking notes on the campaign I'm running for the kids!
