Question about S-ranks in the Zero series

In the "Retrieve Data" mission i got an A-rank, from what i researched you need at least 96p to get an S-rank, but i got an A-rank with 98p. The only A-rank i got before this one was in the drill mechaniloid mission, Does getting A-rank in past missions affect the rank in future ones?

Metal shark players stage is garbage reminder

I really hate this stage so much, i thought tidal whales stage was bad, this stage literally makes tidal whales stage look good in comparison which is a war crime.

This stage lasts a freaking eternity, you will literally die from getting impatient in this stage, there have been countless times i got so bored i ended up running into the compactor and dying trying to speed the level up and since there are hardly any checkpoints, you get heavily punished and sent back like 5 minutes every time you die.

Im on the hardest difficulty and nightmares with endless health bars are flooding the stage everywhere hitting me and getting me instant killed by the compactor.

The compactor run before the armor piece is is also abysmal, literally need to run for your life across a giant stretch of land and hope the compactor and nightmare dont hit you or else you have to do the whole second half of the stage again.

Shockingly the stages in this game dont really bother me at all, but this stage in particular makes even megaman x7 look good. Screw this awful stage 🤮🤮🤮

What do you think of Cut Man?

My favorite Robot Master from Mega Man 1 and one of my favorites overall

Mega Man 11

So I just tried it for the first time. I've played the series and no other mega man game has given me as much trouble as this one. Levels are ridiculously long. I don't think I've ever raged so much before 😂

A defense of the Proto Man playthroughs

A lot of people diss the Proto Man playthroughs of Mega Mans 9 and 10 and say that its bad that he takes 2x damage and 2x knockback and that he should have another downside. I disagree with this entirely since it makes sense both thematically and from a gameplay perspective. Starting with the thematic perspective it just makes sense that Proto Man is more frail then Mega Man since he was an earlier model (the first robot master) and has a broken power core, its why he needs his shield to fight, and to come at this from a gameplay perspective its good that Proto Man has a harsh downside since he gets great abilities like the charged shot, slide, and his shield (which is more useful than one would expect at first). Bass gets his dash and bass buster in Mega Man 10 with no such downside (besides being unable to shoot through walls or shoot while moving) and he trivializes the whole game, Proto Man needs the downside to be balanced. Plus its a good thing that he acts as the "hard" mode of both games since Mega Man is an easy series you probably won't struggle a lot playing through it, Proto Man changes this since him being so fragile means you can not play sloppily. You are forced to be more rigid and learn more about the game, and I do believe this to be a good thing since in Mega Man you can just damage race most of the bosses or run through enemy sections but its just not viable as Proto Man (unless you grind E Tanks). Also its just satisfying and relieving to beat tough bosses when you have little leeway, it feels more deserved.

25M, Hardcore

Very difficult choices on many of these spots! There are very many games that don't get enough credit (underrated/overlooked) and so many that are gorgeous (art style). If you've even played all these games, massive respect to you. BTW don't bother writing that I have too much Uncharted, it's my favorite franchise!

Do you guys remember how you got into megaman?

Whether this be what introduced you to megaman, or what made you get interested into enough to start playing it . when i was younger i used to listen to machine girl and really like their mg1 song. whilst watching a sample video and hearing the megaman 2 ending theme i thought it sounded super good i listened to the og theme and it was PEAK. i decided to listen to more of the soundtrack and decided i should gte into this game. i do love shooter games after all (if megaman even classifies as one) . that was a while ago but just recently i got re recommended the song. i remembered how i never got into the x series because i was unable to get them at the time, but thanks to linux and other definetly legal stuff i now have access to them. whats your story?

Mega Man 4 Perfectly Encapsulates the NES Mega Man Experience…

I recently beat the Legacy Collection and would like to say that I enjoyed all six games in the collection. Every game has their strengths and weaknesses, but MM4 stands out among them.

My first exposure to Mega Man was in Super Smash Bros 3DS, so admittedly, there is some confirmation bias that favors the game where Mega Man most resembles his Super Smash counterpart.

To me, the defining features of a Mega Man game, in no particular order, are music, movement (slide specifically), weapons (charged mega buster specifically), Robot Masters, and level design.

With that in mind, Mega Man 1 & 2 fall short with the lack of the slide and mega buster. I appreciate MM1 more so as the foundation to games with ultimately better level design and platforming (Although Cut Man is still probably my favorite Robot Master of the six). Mega Man 2 has arguably the best Robot Masters and music, but again, falls short with the lack of slide and charged mega buster.

Mega Man 3 is difficult for me because it was probably the most fun I had playing any of the six games…up until the doc robot stages. I used saved states throughout the Legacy Collection, but this was the one game that for me personally would be impossible to beat.

Mega Man 4 stands out because it has everything that you would expect a Mega Man game to have. The slide mechanic is great and I love the charged up mega buster. The power-ups aren’t as fun as MM2, but running around with the Pharaoh power-up to protect overhead enemies was extremely satisfying. The Robot Master lineup is my favorite—Pharaoh Man’s level in particular feels the most unique in the entire Collection. Music is extremely subjective, but MM4 has the greatest variance in songs, and some of my favorites (Dr. Cossack Stage 3 & 4, Dive Man, Pharaoh Man). My biggest gripe about this game, which continues in MM5 and MM6, is the charging mega buster tends to drown out other audio—which can be VERY distracting.

Mega Man 5 is a fun game and includes some of my favorite Robot Masters and level design (Gyro Man and Charge Man). However, the music doesn’t feel as unique as the other games. That, coupled with getting drowned out by the charging mega buster, the music really fades into the background and becomes less noticeable.

Mega Man 6 has the same issues as MM5. I really like some of the Robot Masters (Tomahawk Man and Yamamoto Man) but the rest of the lineup is forgettable. Also, this game felt a lot less responsive than the previous games. I’m not sure if this is a Legacy Collection issue, but I used the same hardware throughout and even went back and played other games in the collection, which all felt more responsive.

After playing the first legacy collection, I’m a huge fan and this seems like an awesome community, so just wanted to share my thoughts and why I thought MM4 was the best! I haven’t started the Mega Man X collection yet, but will soon. Excited to see how MM4 holds up to the entire mainline series!

Wily in MM9 is such a pain...

I've been stuck on this guy for a week and a half now. I even got him down to *one* bar earlier...

I can easily do phase 1 and 2 with zero to very little damage. But his third phase just wrecks me. It's getting to the point where beating him will bring not satisfaction, but just relief that the ordeal is finally over. So extremely annoying.

It's a shame, because up until this point, I've been entirely ready to call this game my favorite MM entry.

Harpuia vs Aeolus(Model H) who takes the win ??

Harpuia imo, model H literally contains his abilities so it’ll be as if he’s fighting himself lol.
