Looks like the Mountain Dew ate threw its own can 🤯

From further investigation and comments this what most likely happened

(12 pack was stored in garage and I live in the south.Pack wasn’t expired was at least 3 months old though )If a can in a multi-pack broke and coated the surrounding cans in soda, those sugars and acids combined with ambient moisture to rapidly erode the aluminum shell of the undamaged cans sitting in the mess. So that also explains why only the some of the cans were affected.

This is my best guess hot weather expedited the corrosion process.

Disclaimer it wasn’t rodents my wife has an open pack of Fanta in the garage that was sitting right next to the sealed Mtw Dew pack I opened today. Fanta is unharmed unless rodents prefer Mtw Dew more 😂

Long story short don’t store your 12 pack in the garage especially if you live in the south take that puppy inside

Sidenote went to see how the Fanta cans look hints of corrosion on some cans
