Could we get a new subject status for playing as releasable states?

Seeing others say they like to play as Ireland, Poland, Ukraine and other nations that would begin the game as annexed territories of great powers, and that set me thinking; do others think there is space for a new subject status available for players when they release an annexed territory at the start of the game?

Currently our choices seem limited to releasing them as an independent nation and thus avoiding their struggle to gain independence all together, or playing as a subject which often becomes nearly impossible to sustain without either being reannexed or artificially building the territories economy before releasing them.

I think there is room for some sort of middle ground; a position where the player controls a territory that is basically an annexed slice of a greater power, without government independence or limited only to local decrees and running the local economy, but where the player can work to build the economy despite the extraction and taxation of the great power. Where are people's thoughts on this?
