I'm so disappointed in the mmo lotm game [lotm mmo]
Source: https://x.com/i/status/2085614098134245567
As the title says, I'm disappointed. I believe they avoided showcasing the gameplay because they knew this was generic af. If I wasn't told this was the lotm game, I wouldn't have been able to guess it.
It looks more like a normal mmorpg that just collab with lotm for some special effects or something. It doesn't look anything like how I imagine lotm gameplay to look like.
Am I the only one disappointed?

Windvally review on the LOTM Game [lotm game]
Trying to figure out how do I format the review. Too many things to talk about, mostly mediocre to negative.
Overall, though, my impression is if this is what this game is like on launch. You might as well either go play Where Winds Meet...or wait for Guild Wars 3. Not trying to doompost and call EOS, but man this game is just not good enough to keep me engaged in its game modes.
To put it simply, this game is basically a "JX3 Online" or a "Justice Online (Sword of Justice Online)" but with a Lord of Mysteries skin. But even this "skin" is a meh on a lot of front. A hollow skin that lacked depths in many areas. Taking the shape of LOM, but none of the essences or atmosphere.
It's definitely not at the level of Where Winds Meet, especially the combat. There's no parry, no combos, you just spam 1,2,3 like the classic MMO and watch the scream becomes a mess of special effects.
Ironically, for casual players, the auto combat button will actually have higher DPS compared to you manually casting, and you can clear all casual content ..with just auto skill casting. It's only for people familiar with the meta, pathway kits, and skill rotation who may have like 20% higher DPS than the auto combat button.
Endgame Boss fight just comes down to "What is your average DPS score (Gear Score)? Is it 6000+? If not, sorry you can't be on my raid party, we need a combined score of 60,000 to clear this boss in time."
---
For Lord of Mysteries fans, the only value of this game lies in the singleplayer main quests, original story quests, and game-original side character quests. (But this is also up to personal preferences, not all of those game-original parts are interesting to everyone)
Klein's story is almost word-for-word unchanged from the original. it's like you are watching an Asian MMO version of the show through cutscenes.
You get to see young Old Neil (lol, I guess just Neil) and his wife's game-original story. Dunn and Daly's game-original story where they solve a case during their younger days. and Even a game original story of Roselle and the taste of a Demoness.
Those game original novel character stories, as well as in-map NPC side quests (some of them, but not all of them are interesting) are probably the most interesting for me, personally speaking.
Just...leave the rest of the game modes alone and play other better games out there. Unless of course, you find the other game modes of this MMO interesting yourself on launch, then by all means enjoy it fully.

Go on not working anymore
The whole point of the go on feature is for the bot to continue on from their previous message. Yet at the moment, they don't. They treat the go on as a swipe instead, giving the exact same message to reply to your previous response instead of their own.

For example:

You: "How could you do this?" You yell before storming out of the room.

Bot message 1: Bot runs after you, but it's too late. They prepare to leave without a word.

You press go on...

Bot message 2: Bot tries to run after you, but it's too late for any apologies.

This is just a made up example. But you get the point. The first message leaves room for a continuation without your input. Yet when you use the go on feature to make them continue, they don't. They just pretend their first message didn't exist and just rewrite their own message with slightly different wording or extra details, but never giving anything new.

[lotm game] Some extra information
"Corruption" is part of your default game settings.
And you, because you were "born" carrying the corruption of an Evil God, died a full 20 times right at the start... This is the 21st attempt.
You tried every possible method, only to accidentally activate an evil sacrificial ritual. Yet this is the only way to escape the nightmare of repeated deaths and fight against the corruption that plagued you from the very beginning.

They shouldn't have removed the other models this early
They claim that the reason they retired the old models was because it wasn't compatible with the Lorebook. But why, oh why, are they retired BEFORE we even get the Lorebook?! That doesn't make any sense!
And do not tell me that the memory/pin feature is the Lorebook they mentioned... Because that has been around for a while and worked fine with the old chat models!

What is the gameplay of Lord of Mysteries actually like?
Below, I will try to give a brief introduction.
This is not a manual; we cannot list every single mechanic in just a few hundred words.
Note:
I hope that after reading this, you will know:
What can I do once I enter the game? What kind of fun will I have?
Is this game actually right for me?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- You cannot refuse to become a Beyonder.
But the good news is, how you choose to live is entirely up to you!
- You can choose to devote yourself fully to the main storyline, until you uncover the secrets of how the Evil Gods are corrupting this world;
- Or focus on your Pathway and Sequence promotion, becoming an invincible powerhouse in the Beyonder world;
- Or explore this unfamiliar world.immerse yourself in Backlund’s fog, enjoy Tingen’s tea, sometimes alone, sometimes making friends;
There are no obligations, no restrictions. Which path will you choose? It’s your freedom!
BTW, before entering the game, make sure to customize a suitable face. That’s very important.

-
- If you’ve read LOTM,this is a novel you can actually “step into.”
- It isn’t just a retelling of the original plot. You can personally act as a Nighthawk, interrogating witnesses under the gaslights of Tingen;
- You can open Roselle’s Diary and crack those "secret codes" with your own hands. You can verify the foreshadowing that has been hidden for eight years in the original work; those regrets buried between the lines? You have the chance to rewrite them yourself.
- Just like in the original novel, you must always beware of corruption in the game!!
After all, if your SAN (Sanity) value drops to zero, your character will cease to exist; and yes, it will truly be deleted!
"This time, you are not a reader, you are the one experiencing it.”

-
-
- If you’re an MMO veteran,
there are no stat traps here.
- Face unspeakable dungeon bosses,
compete across battlefields, and challenge world bosses...
- Every gameplay system delivers a pure role-playing experience.
What you pursue isn’t inflated numbers on a screen, but a true path to godhood,one that is uniquely your own.
“The strongest players aren’t those who spend the most, but those who understand their pathway the best.”

-
- If you just want to relax and enjoy the scenery,
the UE5 engine brings a world overflowing with beauty and rich detail.
- The twilight of Tingen, the smog of Backlund, the waves of the Sonia Sea; all of them are your wallpapers.
No need to do quests or chase progression; you can wander foreign streets all day.
Sit on a roadside bench with a cup of coffee, watch carriages rush by as gas lamps light up one by one.
Set off fireworks in the central square, or attend a discussion on Roselle’s poetry at the university.
Exploration in the game will be tied to a tabletop-style “dice rolling” system, where both joy and hardship lie in the unknown of every roll.
“People of the Western Continent don’t deceive each other. Tourist mode is a legitimate way to play.”

- If you love outfit customization,
European classical aesthetics are yours to play with.
Spend two hours on character creation and a whole day on outfits. From the curve of your cheekbones to the tilt of your hat’s brim—top hats, intricate formal gowns, occult accessories...
Walking the streets of Backlund,
You will be the most fashionable Beyonder around.
