Strange Times
Who could have foreseen
Yogis wearing black jackets
Stuck in mud, walking?
Who could have foreseen
Yogis wearing black jackets
Stuck in mud, walking?
Sights be dancin' all the time,
Tap shoes flutter above the ground
Forever flapping within the fray
Of life's beguiling act of play.
No one called the play to start.
It goes on all the same.
Each time it ends no one applauds,
A penny's worth more than the game.
Yet bodies go on breathing still,
And cooks keep serving something new
For young and old hearts to enjoy,
Or hate, or stare, or give away.
Om Hrim Sri Gurubyo Namaha.
Hi all, I would like to share my perspective on Christianity as someone who was raised in it and has come to see the Truth of Things. I hope ya'll find it funny too (it's nothing new, but someone's gotta remind us). It is so amazing and ironic what they get right about God and Jesus but just fall short of the reality. I mean, they even get the Trinity right, nonsensical as it is. God is three persons in One, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These map so neatly onto the Trikaya of the Mind: the Father is the unseen Source of Creation - Dharmakaya, the Son is His emanation and offspring - Nirmanakaya, and the Holy Spirit is the Divine Love they share and the Father's advocate to the Son - Sambhogakaya.
These three aspects of God are understood doctrinally to be distinct yet in union, just as they are in reality. They also admit that Jesus was fully God AND fully man! Like, how much closer can you get? They are so close to the Point that EVERYONE is fully God and fully man. They accept that there is no contradiction to this, yet they don't accept it for themselves. Instead, they externalize God and cling to the guilt that comes from believing oneself to be a fallible, measly, little human.
ALL the qualities they ascribe to God that they like - omnipotence, omnipresence, omnibenevolence, omniscience, whatever, are LITERALLY their own qualities. THIS life is Heaven, Hell, and Earth. Heaven is when we are joyous, Hell is when we are miserable, and Earth is when life is ordinary. But they, we all, run around and worry about not getting into Heavan, or damning ourselves to Hell, or wishing for a Power From Above to come down and save us all from ourselves. Or they think that demons are mystical beings and not just the evil and greedy people among us.
Even the concept of Jesus as the Redeemer points to their own divinity and they miss it. He literally demonstrates the possibility of being fully God and Man, and thereby we are saved. He is our Redeemer because we are JUST LIKE HIM. Probably, the historical Jesus knew this and tried to teach it to people but they couldn't catch his drift.
Gosh, it's just so damn ironic. Their own doctrine points to the truth, and they wish for their salvation when they already have it and ruin the world trying to get it. Of course, Alan Watts also talked about all these points - he was my first Heart Teacher, a real Buddha. Whatever the path, I hope you all realize this for yourselves.
Amen.
Hi all,
Would ya'll be interested in me posting realization poems I write here? r/dohas seems to be restricted or abandoned and I'd like to share them with people. I've been posting to r/zen_poetry, but some poems are much more Dzogchen than Zen. It'd be weekly at the most, but usually much less frequently than that. If ya'll don't find them interesting I'd be happy to stop. Let me know what I can do! Thank you.
My Lama fingers at the moon,
Bridging my gaze with its luminous form.
Mysterious love expands and fills
Clear-lit space, alive, unborn.
Hi all, I’m new. I’d just like to get a show of hands of who here as actually, personally, noticed emptiness as an intrinsic aspect of their own experience? As in, you have recognized the true, ineffable nature of your mind, at least once. For me, this has made all dharma texts make sense, by the grace of my dear root teacher.
This isn’t a trick question, you who’ve seen it know it. I ask as a quick way to gauge the community. Thanks everybody!
