My second try at scotch bonnet peppers. This time from Sandia Seeds. My first run about a month ago I ordered some seeds off Amazon and got a 0% germination rate. I haven't gotten seeds from Sandia before so here's to hoping they are actually Scotch Bonnets!
My gf took me to get a new tat for my birthday a few weeks ago. Outside the tattoo shop was this concrete planter with one of the saddest-looking tomato plants I’ve ever seen growing out of it.
I asked the tattoo artist about it, and he said the plant has been popping back up for 2+ years. Nobody waters it, nobody takes care of it, and there’s barely even any dirt in the planter. What dirt is there is so dry it basically looks like sand. I still can’t believe the thing was growing at all, especially with it being 105°+ here every day.
There’s also a pub next door that sells burgers, and he said their theory is that somebody threw up a burger in the planter at some point and that’s how the tomato got there. 😂
SOOOOOOO... curiosity got the best of me. A few days ago I went back and grabbed the only red tomato on the plant and took a cutting from it too. I’m gonna see if I can grow the mystery tattoo-shop vomit-burger tomato!
Why do my zulu peppers look like this? I have 7 zulu plants and one of the plants only put off peppers that look like this...the top pepper is an example of what the pepper is supposed to look like. The peppers from this plant are also very thin skinned. Did I just get a weird seed or a seed from something that was cross pollinated?
These althea clusters are INSANE. I really wish i liked the taste of them! Either way they are beautiful tomatoes and I have enjoyed growing them :)
For some reason i have only found them on the habanada plants....im guessing because they are bushier than my other pepper plants...idk but either way its cool to find in the morning :)
I just love the leaves on this candy cane pepper plant. I have 10 of these plants but this one plant is just 95% white leaves. I makes it cooler also when the peppers themselves are white and green just like the plant! I wonder tho...do the leaves being white and not green affect its photosynthesis?
From Bill Yoder's Prince collection and yes they taste as good as they look! I will def be keeping seeds from this years harvest.
I love okra flowers almost as much as I like the okra itself :)
Noticed this guy swinging in the wind on my zulu plant this morning :)
I think I am in love lol
They are soooo flush with peppers! I can't wait to cook with them!
I watered my plants as I always do at 6am and everything is great. I get back home from work at 4pm to this!!! 15-20 of them demolished....was this birds!? It looks like stabby marks and most of them were red ones...ugh! I want to know what mother f'n beast i need to slay!!!
They are already by far the coolest looking tomatoes from Bill's collection that I have tried. I can't wait to see how they taste!
This is my first year growing some of Bill Yoder's varieties and so far Little Red Corvette is the one that stands out for me. I am still waiting for some to ripen but so far just the plants themselves look sooooooo strong and healthy. I am really impressed in how its grown versus the 10+ other varieties. Has anyone grown this variety before? I am hoping the fruit is just as great as the plant looks!!
There was an airshow in town and I happen to get these while I was out tending to the plants :)
