References for APS jobs

I noticed that in an application for an APS job you are required to provide two referees, and it says that they will be contacted automatically once someone reaches that stage.
Is it common to be required to put your referees' contact details down, even before getting to the interview stage? What are the chances of having your referees contacted but not receiving an offer? (Assuming the referees have good feedback)

Doing another grad program again?

Curious if anyone has completed more than one corporate or government graduate program.
If you did a second grad program instead of moving into a standard junior/entry-level job, why did you choose that route?

The big deal with male idols covering girl group dances

I noticed that fans make a big deal out of it when male kpop idols cover girl group dances in a more "masculine" or "feminine" way. They'll drag them for doing it more masculine and praise them when it's more feminine. Why is that? Do people find it misogynistic or something?

I’m in my first job after graduating, and I’m starting to look at new opportunities. The issue is I don’t feel comfortable asking my current manager for a reference, and my previous job was about 3 years ago and was retail (completely unrelated to my current role). Asking uni lecturers/tutors isn't really an option either.
