Who in kpop doesn't like chris brown?💔

Atp every male kpop idol and their mother's seem to love him. Like ever since the bts thing came into light ive been finding out a lot of my favs apparently like him too? Which is so insane and im even considering leaving kpop even though it brought me so much joy

I stan ateez, txt, skz and enhypen. Its confusing to me that these grown men are in the spotlight and western stuff is pushed onto them so much so of course they have to know about these things right? How can they not?

Ateezs wooyoungs post has chris brown song on it. Its also like recent like it happened in 2025 and 2026 too from what ive seen on X

Txts yeonjun and taehyun saw him live at a concert. Theyre my ult so I really wanted to defend them. I saw some moas saying that they apologised or that they were young and like honestly I cant find where it that apology is or where they said they were young (im sorry the live was really long i didnt wanna watch it fully esp if i cant find an apology)

Heeseung (yes I know hes not part of enhypen anymore but I want to include him in this post) recently covered chris browns song. Did his fans even do anything? I didnt see anything

This one is old but bangchan recommended chris browns song back in 2023. Ive heard he considers separating art from artist but how do you then tell your fans to go support him? And hes also austrailian so it doesnt seem right to me that he DOESNT know about his abuse

I just wanna find out where they apologised or if they even did because I dont wanna leave kpop. I loved these groups a lot but I dont wanna support people who go against my morals.

Why do Kpop fans treat HYBE like an almighty payola god

They think hybe is this all powerful entity with control over the media and everything, when they can't even get the media to stop parroting lies about their biggest artists. And I mean this in general. Anyways I'm curious what ppl think abt this narrative

Do you think Wonyoung will get less hate if she become solo artist?

As a fan of Wonyoung since her IZ*ONE days,i believe she deserves more recognition as a artist; her detractors act as if she overshadows every other K-pop idols and as though her fellow members have to "put up with" her presence (they even accuse her of bullying them), yet she shares her endorsement deals with them—and with the agency's rookies—and always prioritizes group activities over her own career. No one should have to turn down an invitation to Cannes Lions; in the end, it was Starship’s vice president who went in her place.

Starship absolutely does not deserve IVE (they have mismanaged the group), let alone Wonyoung: they have used her as a revenue stream for brands without planning for her future career. Yet, even major Chinese magazines waited two years to reach out to her, and Bulgari waited four years before ambassadorship with her.I can notice starship trying their best for balance ive popularity also her members are more free and allowed to done more diverse opportunities.Yet this is kinda tired to get only brands contents as wonyoung stan when she said ton times she wanted trying other fields.

Wonyoung has written excellent songs as the sole lyricist, such as Blue Heart, Shine With Me, Mine, and OTT. Her first solo project was rushed, but she co-wrote Attitude, XOXO, and Bang Bang; she has all the potential to grow as an artist.

She has repeatedly expressed her desire to explore new fields—music, variety shows, or even acting—but she hasn't secured anything concrete compared to the other members over the past three years.

I dont forget her own sucessful collab brand with medicube for a hair comb. This is sold out in numbers of 100k in 2 months even that was exclusivity in japan. Her fanbase is so solid for support her especially chinese fanbase.

The fact, she win 3 awards in big ceremony in china for her unofficial solo .(that was charted high on a biggest chinese music platform top 10 on QQ music )

I believe she will flourish as an individual artist and entertainer—perhaps as a soloist or actress—if she makes the right choices. I recall several IVE producers stating that she deserves her own solo album given how much effort she puts in.In 2022, numerous articles reported that directors wanted to cast her as an actress, but Starship turned down these offers in favor of the group's longevity.

I feel wonyoung is so limited and under pressure in ive and as starship artist.Maybe she is scared to get stupid accusations if she accept ton huge opportunities .We need wonyoung under other company in 2028.

Can we stop acting like people who have been no good for anyone having a stage, fans and even celebrity supporters is normal? It is not normal. The situation is not complicated, the ethics isn't layered and sophisticated enough to require more essays than your high school degree. Only reason why it gets sticky and complicated is because us, the fans, do let people get away with too much. I have no idea what Chris Brown fans are smoking but it genuinely is so scary how what is right or wrong get so blurred out when a man is on stage singing and dancing, like GIRL, that man ain't innocent. Please. I don't care if you think he is cool and talented. I truly couldn't care less. So stop supporting your idols by saying oh they just listen to it, oh they just recommended a song, oh they just mentioned him as a mentor, NO, NO. LEARN SOMETHING from ARMY. Keep your fave responsible. Don't turn it into fan wars. You will be much happier if those monsters would fear stepping into kpop spaces due to the amount of hate they would get. I know you can all hate someone until they just give up, so where is this energy when there is someone like Chris Brown, so comfortable with all of our faves? If that was a dating "scandal" you would have eaten that girl alive for no reason. Use your evil powers for good lol.

On lesserafim's kfandom's reputation

I've been noticing for a while how some knetz react to posts bashing girlgroups on anon kforums by turning the comments section into a lesserafim roasting party, usually with the mentality of "this has to be written by a (male) fearnot". It bothers me mainly because the reaction to seeing women being bashed seems to be bashing more women in return, instead of collectively calling people out for being weirdos online.

I once brought this up with someone (not here on reddit and definitely not to a south korean), and they told me that kfearnots are (or were, I'm not sure) a real pain in the ass of a fandom. It left me genuinely confused because I've never been able to find much actual proof of that, while a lot of what iI've come across has given me pretty much the opposite impression.

I'm inclined to believe that if a fandom has a certain reputation, there is probably some reason behind it, and I don't want to assume people just made it up out of nowhere. At the same time, i do wonder how much these reputations can become a convenient justification for attacking a group people already dislike, especially on anon kforums where the discourse can get really toxic.

I'm not really interested in defending or attacking kfearnots (or any fandom in particular tbh) here. I'm more curious about where this particular reputation actually comes from, how widespread it was/is, and whether there is some context I'm missing. I'm also wondering how much of it is based on actual fandom behavior versus general fandom war rhetoric.

So i'm curious if anyone here has followed kside fandom spaces for a while, especially during lesserafim's earlier years, and has some perspective on this. I'd genuinely like to understand where the "kfearnots are terrible" reputation came from and whether there is substantial history behind it (and also, if it still somewhat persists, since i know a lot of them report having been banned from kforums since 2024 for, well, obvious reasons).

any input is welcome, just please be respectful to the group (or groups!), since they got nothing to do with any of that, truly. i'm mostly trying to make sense of the conflicting things i've come across rather than argue for or against them.

Why are some Armys waiting for an apology/statement when it's just not going to happen?

They clearly like CB and now CB is well aware too. What makes anyone think they're gonna wanna face the embarrassment of back-stepping and apologizing after they already went to the great lengths of taking a picture with him and hyping themselves in the concert crowd? It's clear they're doing the classic "keep your mouth shut" pr move because let's be real here, you could insert any other Kpop idol here and they'd do the same thing.

What's so absurd is that I saw many Armys saying "if they're not gonna acknowledge or release an apology or statement then I'm gonna unstan."

Like what?? No! It hasn't happened yet and it will never happen! Like do yourself a favour at that point and simply unstan. Remember, you can still be a casual listener of BTS without having to be Army.

The loss of loserism in kpop

In the modern world, idols come out of the womb highly stylized and aesthetic even if their tee is only five bucks and their trousers are only 10,000 won; even upon debut they appear fashionable and cool. Generations ago, the idols were spewed out into the public eye and left to roam the streets in skinny jeans and tops that would not be out of place in a second grader's wardrobe. Not only in appearance did these losers practice loserism, but their loserism was a core aspect of their artistry. No two losers are the same, but all losers have one thing in common: they yearn. Whether their deepest desire was to get cool, play forever as a dog, or seduce an older woman--they were yearners and the loss of such loserism and subsequent yearning in kpop is a tragedy of astronomical proportions.

"Deploying K-pop performing robots to war zones"

A quote from the article about Galaxy Corporation (currently G-Dragon and Taemin's label). They call themselves an "enter-tech" and "physical AI company", planning to use robots as backup dancers and cover performers.

>“We’re planning three to six K-pop concerts daily, over 1,000 shows annually,” Choi Yong-ho, Galaxy’s chief executive and self-styled “chief happiness officer”, tells reporters. “By the end of this year, We’re planning to take them on a world tour.”

>The broader vision involves deploying K-pop performing robots to places where human stars cannot easily travel, including war zones. Once choreography is programmed into one robot, all robots worldwide can instantly learn and perform it, enabling concurrent shows across multiple countries.

I better not see some of yall at those robot shows. Also... I can't tell you what to do, but of you attend GD/Taemin's concerts or buy their albums, you give money to THIS.

RANT: I have a BTS concert to attend to this week...

I bought tickets for the BTS concert that's happening this week, and I've always been a huge fan of them for a decade. Now that the date is approaching, I'm having second thoughts.

Ever since two of the members took pictures with Chris Brown, a known abuser/woman beater, just thinking about going leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

On one hand I've always wanted to see them perform for the longest time, I was a crazy fangirl since middle school and letting that huge part of myself go kind of hurts, no matter how dramatic that sounds. As time went on however, I started becoming a casual listener, I was not really up to date with them on anything, because, I have a life now. But when I saw that they were hosting a world tour, i jumped right back on the bandwagon and listened to every one of their songs. On the other hand, going to a concert of someone who willingly associates themselves with a woman beater just does not feel right at all (specifically those two members since they would preach about female empowerment), especially since I am a woman myself and it pains me to see other women is that position.

My dad already booked the flight and hotel and bought the tickets for me, so even the financial burden of it makes me feel obviously guilty for wanting to resell tickets. I just want to clarify that I am awfully grateful for my dad for supporting me financially for this to even happen, I am not some ungrateful brat that's willing to throw all his efforts away so carelessly (saying this because I made the same exact post on another subreddit, and I got called irrational and sensitive).

I know this post is giving champagne problems, but it's been consuming me for the past few days I was so hyped for this man

Lisa and MVA nominations

Even though I’m very skeptical about the transparency, honesty, and therefore the actual value of these awards, I still find it absurd that Lisa got 4 nominations with an insignificant song that disappeared completely from everyone’s radar like “Dream,” when there are artists like Le Sserafim Illit or Aespa who absolutely deserve much more.

What's up with the charade of apologies ????

The BlackPink anniversary SAGA was a mess from the word go, followed by an actual Zoom meeting style anniversary event that looked like one of those corporate events you have to attend but really don’t want to be there for.

People criticized them for putting in the bare minimum effort. Even their fans, the Blinks, were disappointed, with multiple fan pages on Twitter shutting down or retiring from being BlackPink fan-page moderators. It was a big frenzy last week. Meanwhile, the girls continued with their solo activities and vacations. “No harm in that.”

And as the storm began to settle and people seemed to be starting to move on, we got an apology from Jisoo. Fans initially bought it and praised her, with comments like, “Oh no!!! Jisoo is crying.” Then, a few days later, it was Rosé with an apology statement.

“Okay, that’s good, Maybe they really do feel upset about how this was handled.”

Then Lisa issued an apology. “Does she really mean it, or is it because two of the members already did it?” And finally, yesterday, I saw Jennie’s apology. This is what seemed to trip their fans up even more:

“The amount of concern they all put into their apologies would have been better spent if they had coordinated for their anniversary.”

It’s not like it was YG Entertainment’s anniversary. It was BlackPink’s anniversary. They should have remembered the special date and kept their schedules free.

So, what’s up with this storm of apologies?

This seems like a planned strategy. Their apologies were almost identical. Were they throwing shade at YG? Or is there something else going on behind the scenes?

BTS gives me a weird feeling

I was a really big fan of BTS back then, but then got more casual as time went on. Even before the CB incident, something felt a bit off about them to me. For some reason, they gave me the “ick” and I still can’t put my finger on it as to why. I went to one of their Arirang shows and it felt kind of blank to me and I sold my ticket for one of their upcoming shows. I was telling my friend how they gave me a weird feeling, but I can’t really put it into words. Does anyone else feel this way?

Note: Just to make it clear, I don’t hate them. I just have a weird feeling about them that I can’t explain. Please do not post weird hate comments on here about them. I still love their old albums and have attended a few of their past shows as well.

Zerobaseone’s kcon performance is what I wanted nct 127s to be

I get that they are down a couple members but I really wanted a more mature look for them. Lemonade was a great opener but the other songs besides walk did not keep the momentum going enough for me. Why can’t we get ayo and designer? 2 baddies and kick it again? Come on sticker and whiplash would’ve been better. I get that they were throwing it back to their earlier days as a group but their energy is not young anymore. That sexy back cover was too dang good I could see them performing it as well. Top 5 and v for vision sound like demos sm would’ve bought as b sides. What is their performance director doing? Mark is gone but Jaehyun is back make it special put on a show. lol am i being extra what do you guys think?

The sudden Ateez hate because of their increase in popularity (Is San a creep?)

I'm not an Atiny anymore but one group I’ve always thought was decent and never got into any "big" scandals, at least not any I’ve heard of or that have reached outside of their fandom, is suddenly getting all these accusations and a bunch of unnecessary hate. I genuinely believe it’s tied to their sudden increase in popularity, especially in Korea.

It started with the football incident and one thing I noticed was the amount of Kpop fandoms that joined in, trying to justify the xenophobia and homophobia, not noticing that all these football fans would’ve definitely hated on their favorites if they were at the field. It was never about Choi San being corny or cringe, it was about the fact that they hate Idols and think they’re all gay. And so most of the fans who hate Ateez caused the football incident to go viral and for Kpop haters to go viral with their tweets

Now the hate has moved to Korea and Japan, jealous men- I checked some of the accounts hating- talking about how ugly he is, his head is too big, his eyes too small (korean / japanese beauty standards at its finest). Asking how it’s possible for him to be popular because his looks aren’t it.

The worst accusation of them all is that now he’s not gay anymore, but instead he’s a creep who harasses female idols. They started posting screenshots of him doing the Bad dance with female idols and the moment he leans back, he’s looking at whatever is in front of him has become "he’s staring at their boobs". These tweets are going viral right now. One screenshot even shows the moment his eyes are shut, yet they’re using the picture as proof of him "creeping"
What do yall think?

Chris Brown is not BTS's first rodeo.

This is not a post about BTS. This post is about their fans and the reactions to the recent "controversies" that I have been noticing for a while now. While I am not a fan being in the peripheri of the kpop fandom in general means you become privy to conversations happening around you. Since 2023 there's been a section of BTS's fandom that has been quite restless. First it was about Gaza. Some fans were mad that BTS were not speaking anything when in the past they have stood up for good causes such as Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate. For whatever reason, whether they want to distance themselves from their political image, whether it's because the company they are under have zionist interests in their top brass or perhaps their own person politics that we have no knowledge of this issue caused a fissure in their online fandom. If not a consequential fissure then perhaps a reckoning for a lot of their fans. I think there is a pattern of eventual reckoning a lot of their fans are having.

In 2020, a Korean journalist named Juwon Park made a tweet saying the same thing that many fans of theirs are saying right now. BTS has a somewhat political image (earned or not is a different question) and in Korea they are seen as a progressive force with a female dominant fandom that is quite proactive with feminist causes. BTS's collaborator songwriter for songs like Jimin's Filter was implicated in a sexual assault case and this journalist merely asked a question asking does BTS have anything to say about this? Will the songwriter continue to benefit from royalties? Will there be a public condemnation and company statement on this? The fans dismissed the question saying it's not BTS's fault that a former songwriter and collaborator turned out to be a sex criminal and that they had no way of knowing. Fair. But what is sinister is the way they responded to that journalist who merely asked the question. They called her a YG stooge, an anti, biased, operating in bad faith and sent her pretty misogynistic abuses in response that she herself posted about.

In 2018, BTS were supposed to release a song called Bird. It was supposed to be in collaboration with a famed Japanese songwriter who had a long history of misogyny and unsavory sentiments against women. Here BTS's Korean fandom decided they will not take it and staged a massive boycott on their fancafé and beyond. Bighit Entertainment at the time had to cancel this collaboration. The fall out from this incident will lead to some reactionary far right backlash in Japan and we will see BTS's anti-fans also get involved in the said reactionary backlash in a show of how easy it is to stage a far-right capture of kpop fandoms. The incident didn't amount to much on ground but it left a lasting impact on their online fan community.

Recently their latest album Arirang has been under fire for having Diplo as its executive producer. Diplo like the guys before has had sexual misconduct allegations. BTS's album was criticized, similar to the albums by other kpop acts like Blackpink who worked with both Diplo and Dr. Luke but BTS's fans responded with whataboutism and excuses.

A few days ago two members of BTS sang and vibes to Chris Brown's songs on a livestream and within the next day or two Chris Brown posts a picture of two other BTS members who attended his concerts. That's four in their acknowledge and support of Chris Brown.

This incident has crossed a red line for a lot of fans. I am not surprised Chris Brown has widely known reputation as an abuser and BTS's fanbase consists of a lot of POC fans who grew up with artists like Rihanna and the constant news of Chris Brown's violent tendencies towards women.

I have seen a lot of fans express disappointment. Some say that they were in their teens and twenties when they started stanning and have seen this fandom as a safe space and this incident has endangered that. One fan said it's a fight for survival, figuratively.

But I am surprised that they are surprised. BTS hasn't had a lot of discernment when it comes to collaborators, who they work with and hanging out with celebrities. It's not really a new pattern. It's not a question about morality or anything. It's not about them being good or bad people. It's simply about calculations. It's very obvious that BTS are careerists whatever maybe the implications. One can go far back in their career and see that their collaboration are generally a product of calculation that their team makes about how to get a new audience and increase their reach. I don't say that negatively. It's just a kpop characteristic. In Chris Brown's case they have been outspoken fans of his for years as seen in this 9 year old interview of theirs. https://youtu.be/LNZK1d67feg

Chris Brown's influence on kpop male idols in general is quite far reaching and you can hear that in the sound itself.

But I will once again come to the fans and what they perceive as safe space. Is it really a safe space? Or is it a safe space as long as you don't dig deep enough and buy into the fantasy? The violent reactions from many fans is generally because they don't like it when the kayfabe breaks. When it breaks one lashes out but the sentiment and doubt festers underneath nonetheless and there comes a breaking point sooner or later.

I am not saying you should unstan or anything. I am not even making a moral judgment on BTS. I understand that the world is a terrible place and people just want small joys but how does one have that when they are being shoved a well known women's abuser in their faces?

When I made a passing YouTube comment saying the same thing some fans accused me of trying to brainwash armys into leaving the fandom. I guess it looks like that but this is merely a passing observation. I cannot control other people's actions.

This is a question and a food for thought for BTS fans. But yes I am not surprised and the next time they collaborate with a less than ideal character I won't be surprised too.
