Am I the only one getting tired of how negative some kpop stans are toward idols just having fun?

I saw txt’s recent tiktok after their Korea University performancel thing and the comments were like saying they were “off beat", cringe", "hard to watch", etc. Honestly, I genuinely don’t understand what people are even mad about. They were literally just dancing around and being unserious for a tiktok.

I think some kpop stans have gotten way too comfortable being unnecessarily negative under idols posts and disguising it as “jokes". Because comments like “delete this rq", I’m close to blocking them", what are they even doing", or constantly calling them cringe don’t even feel playful anymore. At some point it just becomes normalized hate.

And the “professional dancers btw" thing is so weird to me because what does that have to do with anything? They weren’t on an award show stage or in the middle of a choreography performance. It’s literally tiktok. Are idols not allowed to loosen up and act silly anymore?

And before anyone says that it’s just sarcasm or it’s not that deep, I think people forget that viewers are still strangers to these idols. There’s a difference between playful teasing among friends and random people repeatedly clowning on everything an idol posts. Kpop stans act overly comfortable sometimes and don’t realize how mean their comments actually sound.

The weirdest part is that it's not just txt gets this reaction a lot whenever they post unserious tiktok. They’ll literally just be vibing and the comments instantly become “why are they acting like this” as if idols are supposed to behave perfectly all the time. It honestly feels like some stans can’t stand seeing idols having fun unless they’re being cool, attractive, or whatever.

Idk maybe I’m too sensitive but I really don’t think constantly mocking idols for harmless fun content is funny anymore.

Adult shotties

As someone whos 21 [unc af], liking new gen groups feels so weird because most members are younger, but the fans are even younger. Especially LNGSHOT. Ive been enjoyingn them and their content sm, but then I see fans commenting about Louis' looks and im always grossed out cuz hes barely 16, and then remember the fans are probably like 14 and under, and it makes me FEEL SO WEIRDDDD

anyone thats acc like,, in their 20s and like lngshot that i can geek about with?

Why do kpop stans pick and chose which hybe groups to hate on?

Kpop stans in general really dislike hybe and its groups, but I see far much more hate for BTS, LSF, Illit, Katseye, and Cortis. TXT and Seventeen get pretty much no hate (which is obviously a good thing), but I'm just wondering why certain groups are hated on more and why TXT and SVT fans get along much better with the big 3 group stans. And BTS isn't really a "threat"; they are a lot more popular and not a big competition for any group tbh.

Which Kpop groups with more than 5 members actually make sense?

Outside of music preference, I genuinely think most groups don’t need more than 5 members. Historically, most successful music groups globally usually cap around 4-5 members anyway.

For Kpop, realistically:

  • 1 vocal

  • 1 rapper

  • 1 dancer

  • 1 visual

  • 1 center (optional)

is already enough to build a functional idol group. More members = more investment, more line distribution issues, more scheduling problems, more profit splitting, etc. And if the argument is dance formations… backup dancers exist.

So which groups actually justified having more than 5 members?

For me (with some adjustments):

TW for anyone out there. Don't read or you'll be crying.

EXO made sense (but with 10 members). The original K/M concept promoting in Korea and China simultaneously was genuinely smart business-wise. Though honestly, I think 5 members per unit was already enough. My personal conspiracy is SM originally intended that too, but Baekhyun and Chen were too good to leave behind. stilltheycould'vebootedanother2membersout 🫣

2PM/2AM also made me think. 2AM had only 4 members as a ballad unit and functioned perfectly fine. Did 2PM really need 7 to function as hip-hop/pop unit? bootout2-3members 🤐

NCT is another interesting case (25 members are enough with their concept so far). I honestly think NCT U should’ve been the core/main unit instead. Something like Doyoung (vocal), Mark (rap), Ten (dance), Jaehyun (visual), and Taeyong (center) already sounds like a complete group to me, while their other units could still exist separately with 5 members respectively. lotsofnctmembersneedtobootout 😃

I’m not against large groups btw. I just think from a business and member perspective, smaller groups make way more sense. If I were training to debut, I honestly wouldn’t want to debut in a huge group either.

Btw, if you suggest a group, better prepare a great argument cuz I will fight to reduce your fav to only 5 members.

Kpop nose jobs

I was reading on this type of nose job called a nose threading rhinoplasty and it basically is what it sounds like; they use medical needle and string to enhance the height of the nose bridge and projection of the nose tip. The needle is inserted through the nose tip and so it leaves a permanent scar on the nose tip that looks like a large beauty mark or freckle.

Immediately, i thought of several kpop idols who i remembered having this exact type of freckle/beauty mark on their nose . Jennie was the main one i thought of; she has always had speculation of a nose job and I can tell she has had one just from before and after photos but was always curious as to the kind she had done because she doesn’t have the typical tell-tale shape of an average rhinoplasty (especially the kind done in South Korea). I now believe she and other idols with this nose tip “freckle” probably have had a nose threading rhinoplasty.

Second pic is Mingyu and he said in a live that he just woke up one day and randomly discovered this large black dot on his nose tip and the stans ate it up. Be so serious rn 😭 he got a thread nose job 100% and then made this comment to avoid fans asking why he has the mark on his nose tip. Jennie probably the same lmaooo 🤣

What kpop group do you think changed there concept and what’s your opinion on it

(This can be a group’s newer concept that you liked more than their old, or a group’s older concept you liked more than their newer concept.)

Aespa – I really liked Aespa’s cyberpunk concept; it was super cool, and I really liked all the neon colors in their music videos, especially “Black Mamba.” But I think I like Aespa’s new concept better because, one, “Drama” exists, and two, I think it would be better for the long run.

I-DLE (ULTS) – I really liked I-DLE’s old music; it was very emotional, gothic, and dark. (Before y’all attack me, this part will be about Soojin.) But after Soojin left, I-DLE’s music has gotten better because I feel like they shifted their music into being more confident. And even though Soojin left, it didn’t slow them down, and that’s why I LOVE LOVE LOVE their newer music.

Red Velvet – I just added Red Velvet so there could be four groups, but I didn’t mind their concept change. I really like both, and I don’t prefer one over the other.

TWICE – I was a casual fan of TWICE before 2019. When they became one of my K-pop groups, I loved their more darker-meaning music, but you could never really tell at first listen. Like, I don’t think if you told someone to listen to “I Can’t Stop Me,” they would’ve guessed the internal struggle and danger of giving in to uncontrollable desires

Did bighit really mistreat/gave less resources to TXT than BTS and CORTIS?

I know this topic is taking rounds on twitter alot but i am genuinely curious what neutral people think who arent biased towards anyone. Initially in 2019, TXT was pretty well promoted, even BTS used to promote them, I remember jungkook taking their name in US promotion during MOTS7, seokjin mentioning their debut in an award ceremony, V doing a live with them etc. Then bighit did a debut showcase for them in several USA cities. They were doing good and I dont think they lacked promotions.

Now with all 3 groups having a comeback one after another in a short time frame suddenly caused fanwars, majorly from MOAs saying that TXT wasnt promoted or given equal resources even in their debut days and then they cropped some out of context screenshots from an interview which made people think bighit is being biased when if you read the whole interview, isnt the case.

MOAs have been specially targeting BTS as well saying they arent liking and reposting or making a tiktok challenge about txt comeback like they're doing for cortis, which made me think what even is the mistreatment in their eyes.

I’m 32 and tracked my fiber for a week mostly out of curiosity.

I was getting like 12g a day.

The recommendation is 25–35g, which honestly explained a lot. I always had mid-afternoon crashes, bloating, and just random stomach stuff I never really thought about.

The tracking apps I tried didn’t really help either. MyFitnessPal tracks fiber, but it’s buried behind calories and macros. Cronometer felt way too detailed for what I wanted.

I basically just wanted an app that told me one thing:

Did I hit my fiber today or not?

So I built one.

It has a daily ring for your fiber goal, barcode scanner, 200+ USDA foods, and a plant diversity score. That last part was kind of surprising to me. A lot of gut health research points to variety per week, not just total grams.

A few honest surprises after using it for ~6 months:

  • Getting to 30g isn’t that hard once you realize where fiber actually comes from. Beans, oats, raspberries, chia, avocado, etc.
  • Plant diversity was harder for me than the actual fiber goal.
  • A lot of packaged “high fiber” foods are not as useful as they make themselves sound.

Free, iOS only, on device, no account.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id6760719879

Would genuinely love feedback on the food database or anything that feels off.

FANS Being defensive/angry of idols getting done procedures

Yeah I had to put a trigger warning because I’ve seen that almost all the fans get triggered over this topic.

I’ve been confused about this for years of being a kpop fan. And I’m not against plastic surgery. Everybody feels insecure. The pressure to look prettier and perfect is high. Especially in east asia. And I understand that I mean no matter how pretty I look even I would get at least one surgery to make me look good. Cause why not it’s just a harmless little change it wouldn’t even be that visible. and let’s not lie, every idol has done at least one procedure ALMOST everyone of them (maybe not all) even if it’s not visible to the public eye to see the difference and that’s totally FINE. my problem is why fans get defensive whenever someone says that they look different. Sometimes they didn’t even mean it in a bad way. They just really saw something that caught their eye and just pointed that out in a good way. I’ve seen fans attacking harmless comments and let’s not ignore the fact that they were right. but instead of ignoring them or agreeing with them fans get defensive and make it a big deal. and the drama continues.

why? Plastic surgery isn’t a crime. It has actually helped some people medically. It’s not something bad to be defensive about. if the idols are comfortable enough to end their insecurities why can’t fans accept it as they are? and they’re not gonna tell that to the public I mean why would they. some fans deny the facts and send death threats because the commenter said X idol got a nose job in a harmless way. I’m not saying that making a comment of someone else’s body and life is a good thing. my problem is why fans get so angry over the fact that they did a procedure. I’ve seen some fans say stuff like “no baby I know you’re naturally pretty and didn’t get any plastic surgery” what? somebody can still be naturally pretty and get a procedure done because they liked it? I don’t get why fans get so angry over something so silly as that. it’s their money and their body. what’s wrong with wanting to look prettier. It boosts their confidence in a way. And it’s a really good thing right? Because if something makes you happy just go for it. same as alcohol and smoking. Even I smoke and drink. Not promoting it as something good. But if you’re an adult and know what’s bad and what’s not, and the limit? Just go for it.

And being defensive and angry over something as silly as this is actually really childish because they’re just denying the obvious. I mean that’s okay if they get done something it’s not a bad thing or something to insult.

what do you think about this? Do you think the same as them?

Does anyone miss colourful makeup too?

BRING colourful eyeshadows and lipsticks back ohmygod. I am just tired of every idol looking the same. I need the 2016-19 era back where idols, esp female idols were doing dark eyeshadows, colourful lipsticks and blushes.

The most I have seen recently is illit doing yellow blush for some performance that's it.

I remember joy's red lipstick, jennie's dark, smokey eyeshadows and twice using bright pink blushes back then lol

I know k-pop usually follows the global trends and the current global trend is minimalistic makeup, but it would be good to see colours once in a while.

Unpopular Opinion: CORTIS reminds me of NewJeans

i know A LOT of people, especially bunnies arent gonna like this comparison but its just how "I" feel, you DONT have to agree with me, but no need to be rude about it either lol

so anyway, what im NOT saying here is that they’re on the same level. newjeans is literally a once in a lifetime type of group. the records, impact and cultural shift they had is honestly insane to even speak on.

but if we talking specifically about this current generation of kpop in 2026 and especially 5th gen boygroups? cortis def feels like one of the few groups bringing something refreshing musically and direction wise the same way newjeans did when they debuted.

and yes there are people who feel cortis are fresh and theres a lot of them who dont listen to rock, hiphop or experimental r&b outside of kpop, it is what it is, so if someone says they feel new, then thats that

theres also a lot of big musicians and actors in and out korea that are genuinely interested in them, and that reminds me so much of the way newjeans was pulling in attention from everywhere at their peak.

and the craziest part is they’re already making this much noise and history while being just 9 months into their career

obviously the boys still got a LONG way to go and their impact isn’t touching newjeans level, but pretending they haven’t made a name for themselves, broke/made records, set mini trends and already influenced the current boygroup scene at least a little bit, feels dishonest..

and if someone still dont get the point of my post, in simple terms:

cortis does not remind me of newjeans when it comes to their musical direction and visual concepts/style, and newjeans had a way bigger debut impact. but cortis gives me and a lot of others that exciting fresh feeling in kpop and has gained crazy success super fast in less than a year, and it reminds me of how newjeans gained crazy success fast and people felt they were fresh etc.

Silly question, why are all kpop male idols clean shaven?

Like i get part of it is an aesthetic thing, but even for eras that a beard would still suit (even if its more down to the individual) Why (as far as I'm aware) this has never been experimented on? Like i was saying, obviously, even if beards in K-pop were a thing, I think companies realise it won't suit every idol. Like maybe I can't imagine felix with a balbo or sunoo with a goatee🤔, they are more the cutey kind imo ( not that you can't be cute with facial hair ❤️😊) but I could imagine Niki with a stubble or jungkook with a lil strip or sumting u know?

Classical musicians and classical music enthusiasts, what's your opinion on kpop sampling classical music?

There is several title that come to me when I think of this

  • Blackpink's Shutdown with Paganini's La Campanelle

  • Red Velvet's Feel my rythm with Bach's Air on G string

  • Billlie's Secret no more with Tchaikowsky's Swan lake

  • iii's forbidden midnight with Grieg's In the Hall of the mountain king

  • I-dle's Nxde with Bizet (Carmen) La Habanera

  • Chess by Dahyun and Itzy's Snowy both sampling Fur Elise by Beethoven

  • Ateez Wonderland with New World Symphony (Dvorak)

  • Billies every body got a secret, marionette by red velvet with Tchaikowsky' Sugar Plum fairy

  • Taemin with Bones and Vixx's Fantasy sampling Monlight sonata by Beethoven

  • Kiss of life's Maestro of my heart with Paganini's Caprice 24

  • Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No.4 & Oneus’ Baila Conmigo

  • Taemin's Advice with Bach's invention n13

  • Purple Kiss pretty psycho with Beethoven's Stmohony n5

  • Cheeky by EL7Z UP sampling Borofins polovstian dances

Etc, you get the idea.

Is there time where you feel it was badly introduced? Sometimes where it works completely? Your overall opinion with Kpop using Classical samples more often than other music industries ?

I personally like when I hear a koop song and I recognise a classical sample. I fond it fun, quite like a game.

I really like when the sample is completely integrated with the Melody (for example Billlie,so Secret no more with Swans lake, is amazing, I love how the lalalala in the chorus goes with Tchaikowskys theme). Sometimes I think the sample doesn't necessarily fit the music, as in nothing in the rest of the melody and instrumental is linked to the sample.

Also I heard BEcause by Dreamcatcher is a sample of Fur Elise ? I can't hear it tho, if someone has a timestamps I'd be interested in it.

Dr. Luke makes another appearance in kpop - this time in Taeyang's album

"Would you" is my favourite track from his newest album - but why the heck dit it have to be arranged by Dr. Luke? What is it that kpop seems to invite people like him, Diplo etc.? How do you feel about it? Does it matter to you?

What are you guy's looking foward in 6th gen kpop

I know we’re still in 5th gen and maybe have a couple more years until 6th gen, but from what we’ve seen so far, what are some things you guys want to start seeing more of?

For me:

  1. More Korean lyrics — I know K-pop has gained a huge Western audience, so it makes sense for companies to use more English lyrics than Korean. But personally, I enjoy Korean lyrics more because sometimes the English lyrics can sound cringy if they’re not used the right way. It also just feels more fun when they’re speaking Korean and I have no clue what they’re saying.
  2. Girl crush — I feel like K-pop companies/groups aren’t doing girl crush concepts like they used to, and I honestly have no clue why because it was really cool and it’s one of my favorite types of K-pop. (Also, if you know any newer girl crush groups, PLEASE recommend them.)
  3. Longer songs — Oh my god, I feel like we can all agree on this one. I’m so tired of listening to fire songs and then they end up being 2:15 long. It’s so annoying.
  4. More full-length albums — I’m seeing a lot of K-pop groups releasing EPs/mini albums instead of full albums. Like, ILLIT has so many EPs and one mini album but no full-length album, and they’ve already been in the industry for 2 years.
  5. More creativity — It’s annoying how K-pop companies keep giving groups EDM/loud-sounding music even if it’s not really their style. I know groups like LE SSERAFIM, NMIXX, and maybe i-dle are known for being experimental, and they’re good at it. But ILLIT’s new EP (sorry I used them twice already, I promise I’m not hating) doesn’t really feel like old ILLIT, and “GRWM” is the only song that kind of suits their concept. I feel like groups should stick to sounds that fit them instead of constantly chasing trendy sounds.
