Coast "Beach Cruiser" disappoints.

I have been riding the bike for 7 months now. I do not enjoy riding it as much as I do my old heavy Electra beach cruiser, (single speed, coaster brakes, and plenty of rust).

The geometry on the Priority Coast is completely different. It places the rider in a very upright position. In my opinion the beach cruiser should place the rider in a more low-slung, ass down and back, pedals forward, handlebars up and out, position. The distance between the seat post and the pedals, both vertically and horizontally are a major factor in this, they are greater on the classic beach cruiser style. The wheelbase is also longer on the classic beach cruiser. Add to that the seat size, the Coast has a smaller seat, (and non-standard post size making replacement difficult), and the handlebars size, (also smaller/narrower grip width on the Coast). The center mounted kickstand will not support the bike on uneven surfaces, nor will it hold the bicycle up with a surfboard loaded , (both important factors as I live in a very uneven Mexico beach town).

I really like the aluminum construction for its weight and non-rustability, and I do love the belt drive, it is smooth like butter. But I do not like the way it feels to ride this bike. I prefer my old Electra, not just because I can load my surfboard on it, but because it is more fun to ride. I hope Priority will go back to the drawing board and produce a REAL beach cruiser.
