Priority continuum Onyx

Hello! Just moved to DC and trying to live that bike life now and want something for my commute and some fun riding with the wife, will be paved 99% and looking for something that is basically no maintenance. This had led me to the Continuum Onyx. The gates belt/drive, the cvt, and fenders and with the special for the rear rack and whatnot are very enticing and looks like the perfect bike for what I'm looking for. And the price isnt too bad either . Can anyone confirm I'm making the right choice? Or would there maybe be a better option you can sell me on.

Ace of Spades question.

Going to look at a lightly used Ace of Spades that is for sale locally. Anything I should look out for?

Also, where is the frame size located.

Been commuting on single speed for a long time and just dying to try a belt drive.

Shifter cable keeps coming loose [Brilliant L-Train]

Got an L-Train a couple months ago off FBMP and it's a cool ride. Except every ride the housing for the shifter cable comes loose from the downtube (please refer to helpful red circle in the photo) and it's driving me nuts. Any solutions besides pliars/zip ties?

Looking for fender recommendations

I’ve been riding my Priority Apollo to work for a few months now and am thinking of adding some fenders as it gets into the rainy season. Does anyone recommendations for fenders that fit? Preferably some that would still allow me to fit a rear and front rack later on.

Check your Front Sprocket Bolts - Current Plus

This is probably not specific to the Current Plus, but that's what I have.

I picked up a couple of Current Plus bikes a few weeks ago, primarily as pleasure bikes for a pair of aging (yes, boomer) empty-nesters. I try to get out on mine every day, with motor assist set to the minimum so I get a little exercise. I've logged about 225 miles so far.

A few days ago I started to hear a creaking noise as I pedaled; more pronounced with more effort. I did a bit of AI-assisted web searching and it suggested my belt was loose. Well it most definitely was, so I fired up the Gates app and tensioned it. That seemed to help a bit for half of my next ride, but on the return trip it seemed to get much worse. At first I suspected that I hadn't "trued" the rear wheel in the frame during the retensioning, and it did appear to be off a tiny bit. So I fixed that and plucked the belt to check the tension. Rather than getting the expected "thrum" sound, I also heard a buzzing noise. I checked my wife's bike (currently less than 100 miles) and heard no buzzing. I'll mention that I heard the same buzz when I first tensioned it but didn't think much about it at the time.

While poking around looking for the source of the buzzing, I discovered that 3 of the bolts holding the sprocket to the crank assembly were loose and could spin freely in their bolt holes; the 4th was barely finger-tight. Fortunately the nuts on the back side were still present, so I tightened them and the buzzing disappeared. I suspect those were actually the source of the creaking noise but haven't been out for a ride yet.

Is this a common occurrence on new bikes? Is applying some loc-tite a reasonable option?

Upgrading Ace of Spades wheels

I want to upgrade the wheel set of my Ace of Spades. Finding a direct replacement wheel set is difficult because of the priority rear hub that secures the gates cog.

Thus, I am looking into upgrading my current wheel set with better rims & double butted spokes. Does anyone have any info to share about Ace of Spades wheel improvements?
How much weight was saved & how did the upgrades affect the quality of the bikes ride.

Thanks!
Andy

Is there something missing ?

The Hot Sauce has one bolt holding the rear end together and one home that looks like it had the same thing. What's everyone else's look like?

Tarmac Tire Recommendations for a 600X

Howdy y’all,

With the horrendous fire season we’re having up here in the PNW, I’m shifting my fall goal away from a bikepacking trip (the Oregon Outback Trail) to bike touring along the coast. I’d like to just ride my trusty 600X, but it seems silly to keep the knobby mtb tires I currently have on it if I’m just sticking to tarmac the whole time. Does anyone have any road touring specific tubeless tire recommendations for the stock WTB rims?

Thanks!

Rear wheel removal question

I'm installing fenders and have to remove the rear wheel.

Can anyone tell MW if there is a "best gear" to be in when disconnecting the internal gear hub shift cable? Does it even matter?

New wheels for a Current?

I've come to realize that the 650b 36 spoke stock wheelset on my 2 Priority Currents is not something commonly stocked/replaceable in bike shops, or even online with the particular setup my Currents have. They came with WTB SX19 rims with what seems to be custom 36h drilling and 13 gauge non tapered spokes, and a front 100mm x 15mm thru axle. Since my spouse and I commute with the bikes daily, I want to have a spare wheelset on hand should we damage one or more of our wheels to prevent one of our bikes being down long term.

I've been searching around and it seems almost impossible to find a decent 36h 650b/27.5" rim. Even WTB SX19's that I see online are all 32h. From what I've read it seems 36h is obsolete and only used on cheap rims that are machine built and the WTB SX19's seem to fit that description.

I've been looking at higher end rims (23-25mm ID) with 32h drilling which I understand should be even stronger in theory if well built compared to the cheaper 36h SX19, is that understanding correct? This is not a problem for the front wheel as I could just have one built with a compatible thru axle hub but for the rear wheel it must be compatible with the Shimano nexus 5 hub which my current is 36h and though I see 32h models described online I cannot find any for sale.

I could use some advice, should I try to seek out 36h wheels? And there any someone can recommend? Or do I need to switch to a 32 spoke setup to be able to find decent wheels? I'm looking at something like the WTB KOM Light or KOM Tough which only seem to come in 32h.

Thanks reddit

Considering getting the newly updated Priority Folder 8???

I had been cross shopping for a Tern D7i, Tern Verge S8i, Dahon Mariner XL, or (once it comes out) a Dahon Lunden 20”…… but now I am leaning more towards the newly updated Priority Folder 8.

On the Priority website, they’re taking preorders with a target delivery date here in the U.S. of Sept 7th.

The new revised folder version 8 comes with a with Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub and hydraulic disc brakes. Still undecided but leaning towards the Priority Folder 8, except I’m at the highest weight capacity that the bike is supposed to handle. So I’m concerned if this bike is not good for somebody with my weight.
