Caldigit TS4 Pro Bricked after Update

Posting in case anyone's been here before and hopefully knows a solution.

I ran a firmware update on my CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 Pro Dock and it hasn't been detected since. I followed the exact steps in their update video and website description exactly. Using it for over a year without issue.

Symptoms:

  • Still charges my MacBook normally, so the PD side is alive
  • Doesn't appear in System Information under Thunderbolt or USB
  • Nothing downstream works e.g. no displays, no Ethernet, no USB
  • Same on a different Mac, and with three different Thunderbolt cables including the CalDigit one

Console shows the Mac's host controller seeing a cable and cycling the port, but no downstream switch ever enumerates. Looks to me like the Thunderbolt controller isn't booting while the PD controller is unaffected.

Tried already: full power drain with the PSU out of the wall for a few HOURS, reconnecting power before the host, Option-clicking the CalDigit utility for a force re-flash (it can't see the dock at all), multiple hosts and cables.

Has anyone brought one of these back from this? Is there a DFU-style mode?

Refine Evatech Build

Follow-up from my previous post where I got thankfully put up to date with the overpriced nature of the 5090 build. Have been looking at the recommended OzBargain 5080 builds. Due to things being out of stock I have made some swaps and was wondering if this is suitable. I tried pricing the parts individually and it looks like it would be more expensive to build myself. I’m happy to spend a bit more if it would be a worthwhile change, or happy to save and build myself if there are some small tweaks that get me a better price/build.

Total Cost $4013

GPU: RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 (Palit)
CPU: 9800X3D

SSD: Crucial P310 1TB Gen4
HDD: Will harvest my old PC
PSU: MSI MAG A850GL 850W Gold PCIe 5

Is this prebuilt worth $8,999 AUD? (9800X3D + 5090)

I am looking at buying a new high end pc (still rocking my 1080 from many years ago). Quoted by a local shop in Brisbane. I have been out of the shopping/building game a while so wondering if this is a good price and enough to run most common games 4k high fps. $8,999 total including 2 years warranty. They have hundreds of positive reviews online.
