Quebec City in late October / early November?

Thinking of visiting sometime between Oct 26 and Nov 1. Will there still be any fall colours, or are most trees bare by then? Also, is it usually very cold or snowy around that time, and what would you recommend doing for a few days?

Bombed a FAANG-adjacent technical screen so badly the interviewer was frustrated — is it recoverable?

Had a technical screen at a well-known tech company recently. It was not "I struggled but got through it" bad. Genuinely could not produce anything meaningful even after the interviewer gave repeated hints and walked me through the approach. Froze completely. The interviewer was frustrated. Humbling does not cover it.

I know I need significant prep from here on and I am not looking for shortcuts. Just want to know if this is recoverable or if I have permanently closed the door at this company.

Two questions:

  1. Can you reapply to the same company after a performance like this? Is there a cooldown period?
  2. Has anyone been in a similar situation and come back to the same company successfully later?

How are you getting interviews at big tech in 2026?

I recently got back into LeetCode and interview prep after being away from it for a while. One thing I keep wondering about is how people are getting interviews in the first place.

I see a lot of discussion about passing coding interviews, but not much about getting the callback. Are most of your interviews coming from cold applications, referrals, recruiter outreach, LinkedIn, networking, or something else?

What has actually been working for people in the current market to get their resume noticed and land interviews with big techs?

I have a Pinterest ML phone interview coming up soon. Would love to hear from anyone who has done it recently, especially what the coding round was like, how hard the ML questions were, and what topics were most important to prepare. I come from a more applied ML/computer vision background so trying to get a sense of what to expect.
