Why do you think Liza Minnelli's movie career failed to fulfill the initial promise it had in the beginning?

Liza was born in the wrong era. She should have been in the era where musicals were all the rage but instead, she got CABARET which won her the Oscar but she didn't do another film musical. Sure, the musical genre was considered a risk in the 70s. Most musicals flopped. Even CABARET wasn't a conventional musical. But still, did they try? I mean, Liv Ullmann could have done one less musical.

Liza was also a good dramatic actress, Pookie got her fist Oscar nomination. She did a couple of dramas, the Junie Moon movie flopped. A Matter of Time was a epic disaster but what brainiac genius thought Liza could do a period film? Thank god for ARTHUR. But after that, it was dunzo for Liza. Her movie career was finished, her singing career had a brief hit period with the Results era. But then the David Gest marriage, the snorting live performances which made her a laughingstock and pawning her hideous clothes on the HSN or laughing maniacally on Larry King or "dancing" on Sex and the City 2, Liza became a joke.

"Falcon Crest" was never as big as "Dallas" or "Dynasty" yet it often had the most prestigious classic stars (including Lana Turner as Jacqueline). Jane Wyman, hunky Lorenzo Lamas and Susan Sullivan's signature spin on the intro

I had a soft spot for Ana Alicia as Melissa because of how morally ambiguous she was. I lost interest in Falcon Crest when the series decided to kill her off (and regretted it since they had her back as someone else).

The men were handsome. DILFS like David Selby and Robert Foxworthy, studs like Lorenzo Lamas, Ken Olin and William R. Moses. Morgan Fairchild, Abby Dalton (the blind psychotic nun arc was a blast), Celeste Holm setting fire to a mansion, Gina Lollobrigida sexing it up with the younger Selby, Laura Johnson being unceremoniously killed off. Gregory Harrison in the crap season.

Jane Wyman was the series' biggest asset yet also its biggest problem. Wyman didn't get along with Lana Turner so Turner was sent packing, the Lesbian storyline with Kim Novak was changed (was Wyman aware her most known co-star was gay? I always assumed she was gay because of how butch she came across).
