Hi guys,

We just got back from an almost month long vacation. And well we left our puppy with the grandparents.

My pup is now 6 months old and oh my god he loves people and dogs, however, he is now jumping and nipping to get attention.

I am trying to find a good way to correct. Treats work, but not really honestly. So 2 main problems:

1.) greeting at the door: when guest come in he is overly excited and he is starting to nip at their hands and ankles for attention. Does he eventually calm down? Yes but it takes a while. Sometimes we have to crate him. The more people come over the worse it gets.

My proposed solution: we leash him and put him in a place, then teach the “go say hi” command.
My issue with this proposed solution: do I just like keep closing the door in guest if the initial reaction is excitement? Or do I let them come in and ignore until he can go back to place or down?

2.) nipping/frustration: general nipping with us and them. So before we left I taught him “get a toy” and well my parents didn’t follow up, so now he can’t self sooth with a chew toy. So now I have to reteach that. Now, we stopped letting him say hi to people/dogs on walks and I want to make sure I don’t get him frustrated from not being able to do that. How do I balance that with play time? Bc right now the only play time he gets is if we see a dog we know, other than that we used to go to the dog park really late in the day and only bc we saw the same 4 dogs, but lately there have been too many unknown dogs and one which is very dominant so we decided to stop that all together. I am like concerned about frustration reactivity and want to balance it.

He enters doggy first grade in a month, and I’ll be hiring a trainer to come to the house for a 1:1 but we can’t for another 2 weeks 😭

Please note, this dog will be getting service trained to be my service animal. But we haven’t started service training (we already found a trainer for that) as I want to make sure that he has the basics down to a T before I even add that on. So him learning to calm down is a HUGE deal bc if he can’t, then I can’t make him a service animal. Which him being a pet would bc okay too! But I would be sad about it.

UGHHH I already know Im going to get dragged.

We are taking a very long well deserved vacation. This is the only time we could do as for the last 2 years both of our jobs were quite hectic. We were supposed to take in a pup last year but work happened and we delayed it. Unfortunately (and happily) we now have a 5 month old pup who will be with my parents for like 20 days. My parents love my dog (and dogs in general) but like we do so much training every day and I know my parents won’t. He’ll be going to work with my mom (she is a dog groomer), everyday. I know he will get his physical needs met bc both of my parents are quite active. I have told them not to walk him 5 miles bc he is too young. They are just very old fashion. They are thankfully putting an airtag on him just in case, so that was comforting to know and I am adding my mom’s number to his collar. To their credit their last dog was fantastic. And honestly for what little training he had he listened to both of them and behaved well! Just was hyper at times.

I wanted to take him with us but I just can’t imaging putting him in cargo. He will be my service dog however he is just not ready to work (we are also getting a trainer to assist us with service training). Once we are back we are LOCKED IN, all of our trips are in nearby states and Im taking him with me everywhere.

I am just trying to prepare for the worst. I know he will be chunky bc my mom loves giving the dogs morning toast for some reason 😭

Am I leaving him at an important time? Should I be looking to sending him with a trainer instead at least for a week or 2? We already have a trainer that comes in, and I was thinking of asking her if she does boarding but I looked at the website and I don’t think she does, even if it is for a few days. We are setting up time to meet with her the week that we get back to go over whatever pops up while we are away.

Maybe Im over reacting but like my last dog was aggressive so is hard for me to not over think it 😭

Has anyone left their pup for that long? Did it go okay?

Ughhhhhhhh well my 4 month old boy wont stop peeing on his leg. Like Im talking out 4 times a day. Sometimes is a sprinkle, but other times is shower. My last pup self corrected pretty quick, but this one is like non stop. Every pee break is a wet paw.

What do I need to do to correct this? I put my hand on his back so that he won’t curve as much which points up, that works 50% of the time. I am debating going to the dog park just so he can meet other male dogs and yah know copy them. But Im also scared of dog parks bc people suck 😭

What did you guys do? Does it get better?? It’s 1AM and we just had a potty break where he WATERED his paws with piss and I had to put him in the bathtub bc waterless shampoo was just not going to do the job.

My husband is in quite the pickle after returning his motorcycle plates.

He moved from San Francisco to Maryland 2-3 years ago. When he went to the DMV with his motorcycle tags there was a 4 hour wait. A person came out stating that no one would be able to assist them but went down the line collecting forms, tags, etc. When she got to my husband he said he is moving out of state and is returning his tags. The lady took them and well that has been the start of all of our problems.

Fast forward two to three years. San francisco had been charging a for a past due registration fee and we now owe like 1K. When he was in SF he paid all dues and fees, and neither him nor the motorcycle has not been in SF for almost 3 years now.

When he sent all his correct information to get the title, as they asked for proof of insurance and everything, they then rejected him stating that he had an out of state insurance, and asked him to call. When he called and explained that he has been in MD for almost 3 years and needs the title released to register in MD, and has sent all his info and was rejected bc of the out of state insurance, he was asked to submit the info bc they never received any of this. When he contested that yes they did bc the rejection was due to the out of state insurance the person on the like stated that he not only owed past registration fees (from the last 2-3 years), but that they never got his forms (even though the rejection acknowledges receipt of them) and yelled at him saying he doesn’t give a shit if he sent it and to send them again.

This whole process had been a mess and quite stressful. And we can’t register in MD until SF releases the title.

Anyways here are my questions:
- would it be easier to fly in and go in person?
- is there additional information that needs to be submitted that may not be listed but may be useful?
- I’m probably missing a bunch of details but if you went through the same issue what was your experience and how did you resolve it?

My boy is turning 15weeks tomorrow and weighed 25 pounds at 13 weeks. I haven’t weighted him yet, but I think he is closer to 30 pounds now. Naturally he gets chunky then has a growth spurts like every week lmao

Every time we go on walks people stop by to say hello and every time I tell them his age they gasps and tell me he is about to be a big dog and that his paws are huge. Tbf his paws are huge. His mom is on the smaller end, and I didn’t get to meet the stud but I saw his show pics and he is absolutely beautiful and looks tall but knowing my breeder she has measurement requirements as she breeds healthy pups that are breed standard sizing. Anyways, I think I got a bigger one lmao at our puppy classes I noticed our dog is about half an inch to an inch taller than his littermates.

Was your pup this size? And how big did he end up getting? Or is this normal for the breed? He eats about 2 cups of food a day. And vet said he looks healthy so I don’t think is fat lol has anyone else gotten a larger PWD by accident? We love large dogs so is no problem.

We started to track his height just for funsies. When he sits he is about 23 inches tall from head to paws.
