Is this too formal?
Hi! Im going with my friend to a wedding as his plus one, and its a garden party themed wedding. I have never been to a wedding and Im so anxious about what to wear. I plan to dye tint this dress so its a little more purple because the bridesmaids are wearing blue. I also would alter the bottom a little so its more ankle height because the longer length feels a bit too much. I have no idea how formal its supposed to be and I dont know anyone other then my friend that is going. He said he did talk to the married couple to be and asked about it and they said "dont stress too much about the dress code, it'll be hot out so we dont expect anyone to get too dressed up." I also usually dress completely opposite of a garden party aesthetic so all the ruffles and colors I usually see in these type of dresses are something I dont personally like on myself so its super hard to find a dress that I like. The wedding is in 3 weeks so I have time to find a new dress if needed. Please help! Edit: thank you all for the advice, I will be getting a different dress that has a looser fit. It was comfortable on, but I definitely see now that the fit was too small.
