Players Can Steal Your Mail, Report You, and Get Your WoW Forever Account Banned for RMT — Blizzard Still Hasn't Fixed It
>EDIT: So many people have commented or sent rude messages stating the last name bug is impossible and that Blizzard's engineering team could never miss something like this.
The fact is, they said they fixed it on 24th of September, they didn't. They still think its fixed despite dozens of bug reports telling them it isn't. You can log in and test it right now if you don't believe me. https://www.bluetracker.gg/wow/topic/us-en/2360696-wow-forever-beta-development-notes-updated-october-8/
Imagine sending your friend 10 gold, someone else intercepting it, STEALING your gold, reporting YOU, and Blizzard banning your account for RMT. Then you appeal and Blizzard refuses to reverse it.
That's exactly what I was able to reproduce on WoW Forever Beta several times, as of 10/10/2026.
Before anything else, I DID NOT get any real players banned. I'm a developer IRL and discovered this when I received another player's mail on the first day of beta. I created severeal dummy beta licenses to investigate it myself because I wanted the issue fixed.
And yes, Blizzard supposedly fixed part of this two weeks ago. It's still happening and no it doesn't cost to add numerous beta profiles to test this.
Here is the issue:
Lets say your character is named BOB DOLE and someone else makes BOB BARKER.
The mail system appears to sometimes match only the first name, meaning mail intended for one player can and will end up going to the other.
Now imagine someone intentionally creating a character with the same first name as a streamer or another player.
They can intercept that player's mail, take the gold, and report the original sender.
And somehow, the person who SENT the gold is the one who gets banned for RMT. LOL???
I reproduced this across multiple dummy licenses:
Gold (10g+): Reporting intercepted mail consistently resulted in RMT suspensions, even after stealing the gold. (LOLLLLL)
Items purchased from the AH: Reporting the mail resulted in account-wide Auction House restrictions.
Appeals: Blizzard refused to reverse the bans, citing RMT and abuse of the economy.
I also verified the AH restriction through the game's Lua API, which returned error code 6 (Enum.AuctionHouseError.HasRestriction) when attempting to use the AH. What's fascinating is you can test before and after and literally watch the error code turning on after you report the message.
So this isn't just mail going to the wrong person. Players can weaponize Blizzard's own reporting system to get innocent accounts restricted or suspended.
Why I am posting this:
Blizzard recently announced banning 2,100 players for RMT, but this testing raises serious questions about how reliable that enforcement actually is.
Again, I got ZERO real players banned. Every suspension was on my own dummy licenses.
I'm posting this because people are paying $60 of real money for beta access, and when Forever launches, real players with accounts they've had for 10–20 years could potentially lose access because someone maliciously reported mail they sent.
Imagine losing your 20-year-old account because you mailed your buddy a few gold, and Blizzard refuses your appeal for "abuse of the economy."
Blizzard, please fix this before launch. This isn't about exploiting anything. It's about preventing innocent players from losing accounts they spent years building. It's also about ethical banning. You can't keep up just banning people and having no customer service to fix it. This is automated, stop lying to your customers.
