Today in Philly Queer History: We the Youth, Keith Haring's mural in South Philly, is officially on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places!!
Today, the Philadelphia Historical Commission unanimously voted to add "We The Youth," the 1987 mural by Keith Haring (and school children from both NYC and Philly), to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. This means that the Historical Commission must approve before any changes to the appearance of the mural are made. The nomination for the mural has a lot of cool history about it and Keith Haring. It's the only outdoor mural on the register!
