apt for nephew

looking for housing for nephew in the area, preferably (but not exclusively) around downtown redmond... right now, he's paying almost $2k for garbage in a not-good part of downtown seattle... he doesn't need a lot of space, so i'm wondering what might be available in the 500-750sf range in and around redmond...

thanks.

cataract surgery transportation

i live about 6 miles from where my cataract surgery will take place. because my family is 1300 miles away, my friends all work, and those that don't don't live nearby, i'm looking for simple roundtrip transport. procedure, i'm told, is about 60 minutes, give or take. one eye each week, same deity-awful o-dark early schedule.

cabulance wants exorbitant rate each way, plus mileage. same with taxis.

i have never used lyft, uber, or for that matter, any other similar service. booking ahead (with uber) gives me no option but a limo towncar, which is overkill at best.

i'm not interesting in buying the car, just getting from point A to point B and back twice without getting a mortgage.

suggestions?

group of 10 unique letters, find word(s) using each at least once

i've used

^[standirmpe]{10,}+$

as an example to locate dictionary words longer than 9 characters in length using any of a specific set of characters, and it works great. however, it would be a nice added value to ask the function to find words that use ALL of those letters at least once.

i thought these might work, too, but no...

^[standirmpe+?]{10,}+$

^[standirmpe]{10,}+?$

sublime text v3 (build 4200)

example 1 finds - "impediment", "indeterminate" (letters in group, some used at least once)

looking for - "meanspirited" (all letters used at least once)

any suggestions? group letters can and do change. thanks...

Way Back Machine

remember moving to san dimas in 1964, just before the fourth. back then, there might have been 6000 people in the entire town. there was a grange on bonita that sold farming goods, and a nice (new) library not far away.

fond memories of folks who owned farm land just north of our house. they would invite the entire neighbourhood over at the end of harvest season to pick fruits and vegetables that weren't sellable but still good.

sad memory of hiking to the top of mt baldy, and being unable to see the ontario international airport barely miles away as the crow flies because of smog. the closest visible land that wasn't a hilltop was santa catalina island, 70-80 miles to the west.

sad that my last visit to BHS, i was not allowed in the property at all, even outside of normal school hours.

buy nothing

anyone know if there's a reddit or other non-facebook group that follows Buy Nothing / Gifting Group / Freecycle policies?

i was a long-time member of the sammamish gifting group on facebook until facebook decided i wasn't me... it would be nice to get back to keeping excess from landfills...

thanks.

C17 Globemaster

just had a globemaster fly directly over sammamish at less than 2k feet and, if flight tracking is accurate, not much above stall speed (180 knots). the tracker said it did some tight turns, then headed south towards tacoma...

in 20 years around here, i've never seen one so close to the ground *or* so slow that wasn't part of the blue angels show, and certainly not over residential areas where the closest large airport is over 15-20 miles away...

it must be training, because it is currently buzzing bonney lake in a similar fashion

e-bike vs vehicle accident, ELS and 187th

anyone know what happened sometime around 3p at that intersection? traffic was starting to be seriously backed up, and it didn't look like the e-bike was going to be ridden anytime soon...
