Your trucks are not compact vehicles

Seen too many people try to park their Cybertrucks and Fords into compact spaces lately, especially near the QFC/Trader Joes. It just looks awful from every side. You’re too wide and the doors pin the cars in the spaces next to you. You’re too long and the backside ends up spilling into the roadway. Please just park in the non-compact spaces to save everyone a very unnecessary headache.

Anyone know why the fruit vendors were asked to leave the Redmond Ross shopping center?

I was at the shopping center with Ross Dress for Less today and saw what looked like several fruit vendors being approached by about four police officers and ultimately leaving the area.

It made me wonder what the actual issue was. Was it because they were selling on private property without permission, a permit problem, or something else entirely?

I'm not trying to start drama or criticize anyone. I was just curious about how the rules work here in Redmond.

If someone has the proper permits, are they still prohibited from selling produce from a truck or stand in a private shopping center if the property owner doesn't allow it?

If anyone knows what happened or is familiar with the local regulations, I'd appreciate the insight.

Coffee spot recommendations

28M, fairly new here. Didn’t do much over the long weekend, so I’m looking to get out this evening.
Any recommendations for good coffee spots around Redmond that are nice to hang out at in the evening?
Also, if anyone’s interested in grabbing coffee, going for a walk, or just having a casual conversation, feel free to DM me. Happy to meet new people..whether it turns into a date or just a friendly chat.
Thanks!

What is this berry called?

Hello, I see them everywhere at this time around Redmond/Bellevue Washington area. Look like no birds/animals interested in eating them. This berries look like a blue berries from far but when you look closely, it is different and I want to know the name of this thing. I picked one of them and bring home and it turned black from light blue color (check last pic). TIA!

Note: I didn’t eat it and threw it away since I don’t know what is it.

Jewelry stolen , looking to find jewelers where it might be sold

I recently had a home break in and lot of costume jewelry along with some gold and diamond jewelry got stolen.

I am wondering where and how the thieves will get the jewelry checked to see which items are actual gold and which are fake.

Have you used a jeweler you used for this? Or an antique buyer with the right skills and tools? Or a pawn shop?

Please share your resources so I can reach out to them and help the police with any tips I can gets

Shame the city immediately painted over it

I actually liked this one. Amazing that it pretty much has been proven that if cities commission local street artists to paint murals, tagging actually goes down. I guess Redmond just wants to keep paying staff to repaint all the walls. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bullshit euphemistic signs should say “Big Brother is watching you”

I think this is a new sign on W. Lake Sammamish pkwy. I assume this means Flock cameras, which I thought the city council was getting rid of?!

What do you need from local news?

Hi there, I'm Alex Rochester, KUOW's Digital Community Engagement Producer. My job is to talk with the KUOW audience and Puget Sound region residents about their local news needs.

Our midday broadcast show and podcast Soundside is a newsmagazine radio show that keeps you up to date on local issues and then dives deep to build understanding. The team are currently asking listeners and non-listeners for their hopes, dreams and constructive critiques of the show. Anyone who cares about local news is welcome to participate!

Please fill in this survey or share your answers to the following questions in the comments.

If you're a listener, what do you want more or less of in the show?

If you're not a listener, what would it have to feature to feel worth your time?

Do you want more stories that focus on politics, community-solutions, outside of Seattle, arts & culture, and/or panel discussions with multiple perspectives? Do you want less of something?

The team asked for listeners to weigh in because they take feedback very seriously, so the more detailed your thoughts the more it will help them understand how best to serve the public with the news they need.

Am I misunderstanding the 2hr parking rule?

Got a ticket today for being continuously parked in the same spot. In actual sense, I parked for a short while outside a building building, went out of town (with receipt for shopping + gas), then returned somewhere up the same street to bring back an item to a friend. I guess because the ticket vehicle scanned me at the building in the morning and evening, it’s registering it as an issue.

I’m happy to pay the ticket if I violated it, or contest if I’m in the clear, but I am curious to understand the law for future cases. Should I have parked on another street if I was just dropping something off and had parked on the same street earlier in the day or does the Two hour limit apply to people just trying to extend parking on the street?

For reference here’s the description on the Redmond website:

Parking Violations
Parking time limits are actively enforced by Redmond's contracted parking enforcement agency and the City of Redmond. Tickets are issued to vehicles exceeding the maximum parking time. Parking tickets state Reason: Exceeded Time Limit. Parking violations are $29 and payable to the King County Municipal Court. You can pay by phone, mail, or online through the King County Municipal Court and search for the case number by vehicle license, ticket number, or name.
Note: No person may repark a vehicle on either side of the same street in order to extend the vehicle's parking time beyond the time limits established. A vehicle shall be deemed to be reparked and in violation of this section despite any movement of the vehicle unless the vehicle is moved to a street with a different street name than the street the vehicle was originally parked on. RMC 10.52.105.B. (Ord. 2490 § 2, 2009)

TLDR: Not sure if I broke the rule if I wasn’t actually parked continuously for the time on the sign.

Please help me find my lost package

Anybody knows which apartment's mailroom this is? There is my lost package in this picture. It was supposed to be delivered to our company, but the driver just dumped it here and uploaded this picture! I have been hanging around a few apartments near downtown Redmond but no good luck. The GPS coordinates in the picture is apparently wrong. Please help me. Thanks!

White KIA SUV

First off, right in red is not for when opposing traffic has a left turn arrow. Second, slamming on your brakes on the road trying to get me to hit your crappy car is idiotic, and putting it in reverse, even more so. I have it all on dashcam. Maybe don’t drive like an idiot.

Safety concern on Link near Redmond Downtown

Today on the train near Redmond Downtown, there were two homeless guys sleeping. One was sitting quietly at the end and not bothering anyone. The other was falling off the seat, had his pants down, a jacket over his head, and was making aggressive noises. It honestly scared me.
What was more frustrating is that security at Redmond DT and the next couple stations seemed to see it and did nothing.
I moved from Seattle partly because I didn’t feel safe taking transit at night, and I’m worried Redmond is heading in the same direction now that the train is connected.
Who do we actually report this to so something happens? Sound Transit?

Masseuse recommendation?

Hey guys! I have a weird niche question…do you know of any masseuses/massage parlors that offer a shoulder/neck-only massage? I don’t like the full body ones and I don’t really like getting undressed, but I could definitely use something for my shoulders and neck!!

Somewhere clean and reputable obviously, but thank you for any suggestions you may have :)

What issues matter most to you right now?

Hi all, I'm Chandler Torbett and I'm running for State Representative in the 45th LD. Over the past several months, I’ve knocked on nearly 4,000 doors across the 45th District and heard concerns from people on everything from housing costs and traffic to fighting Trump, schools, public safety, taxes, childcare, and the future of our local economy.

I’d like to hear from more people here in this community: What issues are most important to you right now? What do you think state government is getting right/wrong or just not paying enough attention to?

I’m running for State Rep. in the 45th, and I believe a big part of that job is just listening. I genuinely want to better understand what you want your elected officials focused on.

I’ve included a poll with some broad options based on the thousands of conversations I’ve had thus far, but please add anything I missed in the comments! Thanks and looking forward to discussing!
