40k Service....results update

I posted here https://www.reddit.com/r/VWiD4Owners/comments/1t5f084/time_for_the_40k/ about my upcoming 40k service with the various problems etc.

Car is at the dealer now. When I dropped it off I told them that if the front rotors need to be changed per State inspection not to do the work because I can do it myself. a pair of rotors from the dealer is about $220/pair + pads. Today the dealer quoted $750 for changing the rotors and pads. I also asked them to skip changing the cabin filter because I will do it.

Total for 40k service is $454. The end links are warranty and the navigation issue is warranty. the location issue is descibed as "J949 incorrect data for the location of the vehicle"

Parts distributors?

I buy a lot of parts for other VW's in our family from FCPEuro and EEuroparts and some stuff from Rockauto. I've noticed these places have minimal selection of ID4 parts right now. I do see brake rotors and pads listed on Rockauto. Curious if anyone else in the USA has found a good parts distributor beyond the dealer parts counter.

Its with a heavy heart....

I've had my ID4 since fall of 2023 and driven through 3 winters so far and 43000 miles. The car has been great so far with only a few small warranty issues. But with much a heavy heart and much soul searching its time to make a change. The windshield wiper blades are finally starting to deteriorate to the point of excessive streaks and we have to find a new set.

2023 AWD PRo just rolled past 42k miles. I stopped in at the dealer this morning to schedule the 40k and get some things fixed before i hit the 50k mark. items on the list:

  1. 40k

  2. battery module check/recall

  3. Both end links are toast

  4. oem map and dynamic roadsign display no longer communicate

  5. Adaptive cruise intermittently loses sight of vehicle in front of the car and then regains it....causing the car to speed up to set speed and then slow down suddenly....creating a yoyoing speed effect. When it happens I shut off the adaptive cruise as its quite dangerous

  6. state inspection....as due in November but the police around here don't seem to care so Its not my priority lately. If I got pulled over I'd just claim ignorance and get a fix it warning.

I have to hand it to the dev's as they did a really good job of sealing up the old routes for getting beyond the boundary. I was able to route a new path to the other side of things though. I'm on Xbox series X and didn't use any hacks or cheats. Exploits I guess is the name of the tricks but nothing game breaking. And i did this in Creative though It could be done in survival...just would be a pain.
