Completed interview in February and still waiting

Started the process in December and interviewed in February, still waiting to hear back. Possibly will travel to Chinaa for work. Security Manager said it may affect my application but he isn’t able to say for certain. This process takes so long it’s pretty nuts. But all in the name of security I guess.

How can I upgrade signage?

For context, the aluminum signs keep getting mangled. What other alternatives are there for signage? Would I be okay with floor signage or is this chain sign mandatory?

Question for my metal cleaning process and incorporating ISO standards 27831-1

Hi all,

I am currently revamping a process. This process involves removing soapstone off of HDMB cold drawn spring steel. We cut and straighten the wire in house, then the next process is cleaning. There is currently no cleanliness spec in house, which may have been causing issues downstream, which involves coating in the next step. We currently use diluted degreaser, and it works OK, but the whole process is spotty because wash and rinse steps aren't timed and dilution is left up to operator as well.

I am looking to standardize our cleaning; would it be okay to use "ISO 27831-1:2008(en) Metallic and other inorganic coatings — Cleaning and preparation of metal surfaces — Part 1: Ferrous metals and alloys" for this as a standard? Is there anything other questions I need to ask myself before implementing this?

I am trying to include more standards in our manufacturing processes. Any guidance helps!

Is this worth $20 for a starter?

Been lurking bikes, and I found this one for $20. I heard this is a good brand, and want to get a bike for road/light gravel. Can I do a lot with this? I found it on my local fb marketplace
UPDATE: it sold

Hello, I am looking for guidance on how to solve an issue for a machine I am trying to commission that we were given from another factory. I am working with a web-handling machine and experiencing an issue with the trim waste that is created. It is sticking to the surfaces of the line and hopper. The previous test engineer tried putting clear tape/sheet over the perforated holes; I don’t know why because I would think that would decrease airflow.

About the trim:

discrete trim pieces
~10 mm diameter
~1mm thickness
double sided poly-sheet/slightly tacky rubber

The trim is pushed via air from the die. Previous test engineer just kept raising the air pressure, but I believe that is causing the trim to stick harder to the liner.

I have a couple thoughts on solutions:

  1. Reduce the air pressure to stop the trim from possibly being pressed on harder to the liner.
  2. Take off the tape that the previous test engineer used to increase airflow from the vacuum side, possibly helping the trim move to the vacuum.
  3. The current liner and hopper is made out of stainless steel. I want to somehow introduce non-stick (e.g. PTFE, UHMW) so the trim has a smaller chance of sticking via adhesion and static.

Has anyone run into a similar problem? Any help or POV would be appreciated! 😄
