Drafting
Curious about ideal distances and speeds for drafting. Obviously the closer you get the better mileage but im certainly not getting too close to anything, so really im wondering what the farthest distance back is that I could still get positive effects. I have a 2025 elantra and I can average about 47mpg on the highway, and I've gotten around 53mpg behind an 18 wheeler. Even around 100-150 feet away, I can still see the increase in mileage.
Ive also tried a few different types of trucks to follow- regular 18 wheelers, flatbed, auto carrier, and box trucks. They all helped about the same close up, but the tractor trailer boxes helped more further out. It definitely saves me gas- I can stay above 50mpg going 70mph, which would normally be much worse at that speed.
