When You Realize You’re Not Where You Thought You’d Be at 24

I’m 24F, and lately I’ve been realizing just how fast time flies.

I remember being younger and imagining what my life would look like at 24. I thought I’d have a decent job, some savings, places I’ve traveled to, maybe be living independently, and be able to give something back to my family—to feel like all my hard work was finally paying off.

But in reality, I don’t have any of those things.

I’m still living with my family. I recently resigned from my first job because I was hoping to find something with better pay and more opportunities. Since then, I’ve sent dozens of applications, but I’m still unemployed. I’ve spent most of the money I had left just trying to apply and get myself to different opportunities, and somehow, I’m still back at square one.

No job. No savings. No exciting stories. No big achievements.

And sometimes I can’t help but look at my life and think, Hay, what a boring life I live.

I know 24 is still young, and I know everyone has their own timeline. But knowing that doesn’t always stop me from feeling like I’m falling behind.

I guess I just needed somewhere to put these thoughts. Maybe some of you have felt the same way.
