Alternative language groups - Hellenic Languages
So just a little bit of lore:
In this timeline the languages diverge around the time after the death of Alexander the Great.
First of all, the Greco-Bactrians manage to continue living mostly as Buddhist cultural group in Central Asia around the city of Bukhara and Balkh their language far from Greek homeland effectively unintelligible by other Greeks, largest majority Bactrian speaking city is Euckraticha.
Next thing while Greek overtime stop being a prevalent language in Anatolian there are never true evictions of Greeks from it. But unlike in our timeline the Pontic Greek diverges from the standard Greek. Their largest majority Pontic speaking city of course being Trebizond.
The Greek itself got highly Romanised and during the Roman Rule, Greeks slowly adopted the new name for their language Rhomaioi, simply Roman. To this day the Greeks feel themselves not as Hellenes but as Romans. That being said in this timeline the Slavic Invasions into Byzantium were ever so stronger leading to the fact that Rhomaioi is much weaker in Greece itself
Mostly keeping itself in Thessaly and Attica.
Lastly the Greek in colonies of Pentapolis in Cyrenaica far from Roman centre slowly developed as its own Hellenic language. Similiarly to how Cyprus slowly developed its own language by having distance with the Rhomaioi Center.
