Did it happen because of Linux mint?

I know that it's not Linux. This is more of a vent post

3 months ago I installed Linux mint on my cousins completely new laptop. She learned quickly how to use it. She lives in the same house. We are a joint family. Last week she went to our aunt to stay there. While she was not at home her brother washed the laptop with water (yes you read that correctly). My aunt dried the laptop and charged it. Then next day she tried to start it.

The laptop was having many problems which pointed towards ram and SSD being water damaged. We took it to the shop where we purchased it from and the shopkeeper did not even know that what was installed on it was actually Linux. He called it "weird window" and blamed it on Linux.

He didn't do anything and instantly tried to install windows on it but not matter what way he tried he could not delete the partition to make a new one. He blamed Linux mint and said that the SSD and ram are fried because of Linux mint and my uncle although blamed me but didn't say much.

I will be showing the replies to him. So is it because of Linux mint or because the laptop was flipping waterboarded?

Edit for more context:

  1. this is Pakistan so yeah the people in these hardware stores are quite dumb at times. I don't know why my uncle went to him either way.

  2. the brother did not get any punishment because his mental state is honestly sad. He is so young like he is 6 or 7 and has so many mental problems.

  3. my uncle didn't say much to me but he did tell me to not install this again. I won't be doing anything to that laptop now since that ain't my property.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm sending these screen shots to my uncle

Sorry I have bad english

[Discussion] I swear if one more person tells me to just seed track-

I don't care if someone hacks in the game let alone seed track. I also dont care if seed tracking is cheating or not. But I absolutely have started to get annoyed at people say "just seed track bro". As soon as a streamer or YouTuber plays battle cats, at least 20 to 25 percent comments are talking about how one should seed track. Even I have been told to seed track.

Also another complain is that I legit saw some people say that ponos should make draws completely random if they want us to not seed track. BROTHER YOU CANT MAKE IT TRULY RANDOM. ITS IMPOSSIBLE.

You don't need to read this fully Is this even the correct subreddit. If not then I respectfully apologize. I don't know why I wrote this much and in such a way. I was probably high.

I'm having so much fun doing this since I'm trying out distros without distro hopping. Also watching others try out Linux and actually like it feels good.

I just recently put my plan in motion to convert those window users into Tux fans. Here is what I choose for each person based on what they wanted and their personalities and also because I wanted each of them to use separate distros:

My elder cousin (pretty much done) ----> ZorinOS (core)

she loves it. It isn't as sluggy as windows. She likes it's professional look. She is a freelancer who does most of her work in browsers or in vs code.

My younger cousin (currently in progress) ----> AntiX (full 32 bit)

he just wants to play games on his 1 GB ram and a pentium 4 computer which is older than me. I will make him a console gaming ring.🏴‍☠️ He can play old games. I will also customize to his taste. He will also be able to watch movies, songs, radio, etc. so that too. He doesn't care if it is 480p.

My uncle (yet to begin though prepared) ----> Mint (cinnamon)

my uncle mostly does work in a browser. He also needs a video editor which I will get him one. That's it for him. He pretty simple.

My friend (yet to begin though prepared) ----> MX (xfce)

He wants to learn a little about Linux too not just use it normally. A light weight system since he only has 4 GB ram and an old i3. He loves customization which I will help him do. He wants to do gaming.🏴‍☠️

Me and my aunt (preparing) ----> Artix (start of with KDE plasma)

I just fucking ruined my older laptop so I'm colonizing my aunt's. She doesn't use it much for work. She's only using it now quite oftenly to prepare for some stuff. But yeah I will take care of it and once rm prices drop I will get a ram and storage upgrade. And sometimes later an external GPU too.

Current problems:

For zorin how can I change the background of the lock screen or login screen. Already tried some commands and extensions but they don't seem to work.

Currently solving the following problem/s:

For antiX wifi issues but already asked for help in the forums and the subreddit and got alot of recoms. Just can't test them right now since I don't have access to the computer.

I want to get wifi working on it. The adapter in the picture is the one I use. How or where can I get drivers that work. What should I do. Also tell em a way to do it offline if possible.
