Wanted to signal boost this. This is the group that’s representing the workers who were fired as part of Rockstar’s union-busting efforts.

They’re not asking for a boycott of Grand Theft Auto, but if you’re buying the game, consider also buying a shirt to support their legal efforts against Rockstar.

What do you want next from Sucker Punch?

I just finished Ghost of Yotei a couple of weeks ago and have been thinking about what’s next for Sucker Punch.

As much as I’ve enjoyed both Ghost games, it feels like they’ve exhausted that franchise now and done as much as they can in that type of Open World stealth/action game. I wouldn’t want to see a third from them that’s just “more of the same” of the first two.

Personally I’d kill for another inFamous but that doesn’t feel like a reality. What would you all like to see?

When do you think we’ll see the reveal of Final Fantasy XVII?

I’m re-playing FFXII at the moment and thinking about the future of this franchise and when the next mainline entry may be revealed.

Just to give some context to this question, we are currently:

- Just over 3 years on from the release of Final Fantasy XVI.
- Roughly 6-8 months away from the release of Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
- Most likely a year or so away from the reveal of the next-gen systems.

Once Resonance releases this year and Revelations next year, there will be no mainline or spin-off games announced to come out. That, alongside the next-gen reveal and launch next year, suggests to me that we may see a reveal for XVII sometimes in 2027 or 2028.

Spider-Man Brand New Day spoilers

Shirtless Spider-Man in Black Widow’s office… we all immediately thought of Greg right?

…because Greg is shirtless Spider-Man’s official photographer of course.

Greg is a very good game reviewer

This is in response the Monday's GC where Greg was musing on whether he's still a good reviewer or not. Just wanted to throw my opinion out there that he's still very good at it.

The thing I love about a Greg review is that he has a very straightforward way of explaining himself and he always seems very prepared; I think he's said before that he likes to take notes while playing for review and it shows. It means that if he has a criticism to make, it always feels well thought out and articulated and he'll usually have specific examples on hand of whatever he's talking about. So often when I'm playing a game after listening to his review, I'll find myself thinking "oh that's what Greg was talking about".

I wouldn't say I always agree with his opinion (especially these days as I feel our tastes have diverged since the Beyond and early KF days), but I always come away from a Greg review feeling like I understand what he was trying to convey.

Anyway all that's to say don't stress Greg, you still got it.

So like… what tf is actually going to happen with next gen?

I’ve been meaning to make this post for a while, but with the Xbox price increases announced today, there’s never been a better time to ask… what the fuck is actually going to happen with next gen?

If the component crisis is so bad that an Xbox Series X has to be sold for $800, and presumably new hardware will be substantially more powerful, surely we’re looking at $1,000 as the absolute floor for both PS6 and Helix. And much more likely we’re looking at $1,500 or more.

At that price, is anyone outside of the dedicated hardcore going to be willing to jump in? What happens next if/when these things don’t sell well?

There are some ways that this could be mitigated of course:

- Delay and hope prices decrease soon. Okay but there’s no indication that things are getting better.

- Subsidise the cost and hope to recoup it on software and subscriptions. That’ll only get you so far surely?

- Credit/subscription/BNPL options. I’m guessing this’ll be a big part of the next gen marketing push.

All these “solutions” seem to me like trivial round-the-edges sorts of things relative to new consoles costing over $1,000. But I genuinely have no idea what’s going to happen over the next couple of years.

How Things Got So Bad At Xbox (Jason Schreier)

This is essential viewing IMO for anyone wanting to discuss what's going on at Xbox at the moment. Lots of takeaways, but the main point is that management is constantly shifting the strategy and goals of the company.

But Jason gives a lot more detail in the video, so highly recommended that you watch it all.

I truly appreciate Kinda Funny's ability to adapt and thrive when things go wrong

I only listened to the audio version of yesterday's Gamescast, so maybe I missed some context, but I was so impressed by the way the entire team adapted to the technical issues they had. I mean, this is one of their top content days of the year and out of nowhere they lose power completely. And yet they found a way to continue the show, record for another hour without getting distracted, upload the entire thing to Youtube and get the audio version up.

Its really impressive to me the way that the team can do all that on the fly and just make things work.

It reminded me of a few years ago when they had that flight delay and missed the Xbox showcase. And instead of everything falling apart, they adapted and pushed the reaction stream back a few hours (and had Greg live podcasting from the plane lmao).

Anyway, congrats to Tim for holding the flow of the show together as host, to Greg, Mike, Blessing and Andy for continuing the conversation and making great content despite all the distractions, to Barrett, Roger and Kevin for working whatever BTS technical magic they had to pull and to whoever else was involved in yesterday's show.

What are some old Podcast Beyond bits that are still going in KF today?

Was just thinking that at this point there aren’t too many left right?

Obviously there’s still saying “beyond” whenever someone else says beyond, which some of the crew still do. And there’s the Roper Report and baker’s dozen on KFGD.

But besides that I’m drawing a bit of a blank. The upcoming list has gone, reader mail is now superchats and it’s been many years since Undertaker smashed through a wall to offer someone a urinal sandwich.

Mixtape reviews are out, currently the highest rated game of the year

There's only 16 reviews so far, so its likely to fall as more come in, but its a fantastic start. I'm super interested what Kinda Funny have to say later on and very excited to play this over the weekend.

Since we're only a few months away (hopefully!) from the Top 100 finally dropping, I thought it'd be fun to start guessing what will actually be on it. And obviously the best place to start is with Number 1.

I'll kick us off with an obvious answer: Breath of the Wild. I think its a game that virtually the entire panel has played and loved and it'll be number 1 on quite a few individual lists. But one potential hurdle will be the possibility of it and Tears of the Kingdom splitting the vote, resulting in neither getting the top spot.

What do you think?
