Don’t sleep on Duskfade

Don’t sleep on Duskfade

I’m a little behind on content so I have no idea if any of the crew have talked about this one, but regardless, please don’t sleep on it! It’s one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I’ve had all year and I’m only about halfway through it. It’s one of those rare games that’s a love letter to a largely bygone genre but it actually nails it and doesn’t feel like a cheap imitation. It’s hitting on every level for me.

If you’re unfamiliar, it’s an action platformer inspired by 2000’s games like Ratchet & Clank, Kingdom Hearts, and Banjo Kazooie. There’s even a little Zelda and Metroidvania DNA in there too.

I know the year is packed but I highly recommend it!

I am the only one who feels there could be more single player AAA marvel games
Like a ninja theory moon knight game would have been cool but probably never happen

Games Show Down Logo - Stars are not centered, logo is tilted.

I love the game; I love the logo. I searched to see if anyone has brought it up and could not find a post. But for years now, it has plagued me that the stars are not centred on the logo and the logo is tilted. Is that a minor ME problem? 1000%, but I need to share my misery so others see it too.

I am sorry for those who may not be able to unsee this.

Do I want it fixed? No. That's a ton of work.

I need to know that I am not the only one who sees it every time the logo flashes.

Please forgive me for unleashing this upon the public. I am sorry.

You can see the difference.

EDIT: Yes, KINDA FUNNY at the top is also not centered, but it all started with the stars.

Router advice?

Long time lurker here but I was hoping to get some advice from the best friends. My wife's grandfather just moved in with us and we need a phone line for his hard of hearing phone.

I have been trying to Google wifi routers that have a phone line/jack but keep getting sent to routers that do not have a phone line on them. Do the best friends have any reccomendations? Verizon wouldn't be able to install a phone jack in my house until September 15th so I was hoping ordering a new router would be faster.

So Andy's been sick for a few days huh?

"Insider Gaming understands that preview events for GTA 6 are underway"

Reminder that Andy won KindaFeudy so he'd be the one to preview GTA 6

BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY...

EDIT: I'm now 80% convinced it's actually Blessing that went to Edinburgh

Quick Blessing Shout Out

Made me sad to hear that reviews cause him dread rather than (previously) giddiness.

When blessing ranks games at a 7 instead of an 8.5, I listen intently. He's critical in a way that gives me pause. His reasoning is personal and often inward looking and though we have different tastes, I greatly value his opinion. I get the feeling he craves innovation both in a narrative and gameplay sense, and that's exactly the kind of critic I want to hear from.

FWIW, I'm also dealing with a bit of AAA fatigue that I have a hard time dissecting. Some of it is my TikTok altered brain, but I sympathize with the "chore like" feeling AAA games have given me in my 30s.

To any of the KF team that feels discouraged when voicing their thoughts on a review, I hope you know there are 50 of us quietly listening and joyfully following along for every gas station shrimp-eater that lacks impulse control on the Internet.

Why do the guys never want to talk about Star Citizen being the biggest scam in video game history?

despite 13 years of development and over a billion dollars raised it remains a broken Tech demo that that people with too much disposable income treat like a religion. And the world's biggest con man Chris Roberts is their Messiah. I find it so odd kinda funny has just completely ignored it. And I'm just wondering why?

Worst thing about playing generational greats

Such was my excitement at the new God of War Laufey trailer, I have replayed GoW (2018) and GoW Ragnorok over the past two months. I’ve platinumed them both a few years ago on ‘normal’ difficulty, and dropped to Story for Sigrun and Gna because they were so damn difficult.

In the years between I’ve played lots more melee combat games and fancied a challenge so completed both games, including Sigrun and Gna, on Give me god of war. It was a fantastic experience. The difficulty meant I had to fully engage with all the systems, upgrades and equipment. I had to think about builds and strategies. Encounters became puzzles to solve based on enemies and the tool set I had available. I had to memorise move sets and execute almost perfectly for minutes at a time to beat the hardest bosses. I died a lot on those bosses but it felt fair when I did die. Excellent gameplay, side content, and of course, story and performances by all. Christopher judge is superb. Particularly in 2018, which is more tightly focused on Kratos and Atreus, the weight and subtlety of the voice acting and facial animation is still remarkable 8 years later.

I’ve tried new game plus and decided it’s time to move on now - but how do you follow such great games? What can you possibly put on your plate to eat next after such a culinary delight?

Part of me wants to try and find something similar - third person melee action, lots of side content and a cinematic story (black myth springs to mind), but anything I pick seems doomed to pale in comparison .

I’ve struggled to get into a game after similar months long affairs with leviathans like Metaphor, Elden Ring and Tears of the Kingdom. I tend to try lots of things and nothing sticks for a while.

How do you deal with this? Do you follow an enormous, all consuming masterpiece with something similar because you liked the genre so much?Or with a palette cleanser of a title, in a different genre?

Also suggestions for what to play next gratefully received!

They need to control Gary’s toxicity

He gets away with too much. In what way is it okay to continuously shit on an indie game because you refuse to engage and pay attention? Insulting the ui over a complete inaccuracy. Taking every chance to ignore the instructions just to attack the game. The dev who made this makes really interesting games that are all passion projects of his, he’s great.

Also how is it okay to spend time on the stream shitting on a guy who CODED lewdle for you and is helping Felicia just because he won’t work on a new wordle spin off with you in 2026? It obviously was not in jest.

I feel like he gets away with too much of this because “haha grumpy” but this is crossing the line into extreme toxicity

Nick and KF?

I was an early fan of KF and fell off for a few years. I thought Nick left last year but then saw that he's been on things this year?

Can someone bring me in the loop?

The IWGB is not asking for a GTA VI boycott, but you can buy a cool t-shirt to help their legal funds

Wanted to signal boost this. This is the group that’s representing the workers who were fired as part of Rockstar’s union-busting efforts.

They’re not asking for a boycott of Grand Theft Auto, but if you’re buying the game, consider also buying a shirt to support their legal efforts against Rockstar.

Mike Howard: Hero of the Slavic Gaming Community

In 2011, Poland's Prime Minister presented Barack Obama with the Collector's Edition of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings to commemorate his visit. I don’t think people realize just how proud smaller nations are of their gaming achievements.

As a German gamer born in Poland with roots in the eastern parts of Ukraine, I’ve always felt a strong inter-Slavic connection. Poland has Witcher and Cyberpunk. Ukraine has Metro and STALKER. Czechia has the Kingdom Come series and a gamergating dumb-ass creative director. But because KCD2 presented a queer, woke as hell medieval Bohemia with the first great Romani representation in a video game, maybe we can look past that a bit.

From my point of view, Mike is a hero of the Slavic people and its gaming industry. Let me explain: At first glance, he seems like a regular stereotypical American dude, but in the Games Daily episode with Greg, he showed again that he is a multifaceted connoisseur of the international gaming scene, fluently repping everything from indie to AAA, from American to Japanese video game art. And for me, most importantly: Slavic games.

His playthrough of KCD2, which surprisingly became my number one video game of all time this year, was an important contribution to bring the fascination of this game to the Kinda Funny world. I know that all the KF hosts have their tastes and Tim does not want to experience the intellectual KCD2 quest where you have to analyze the feces of a sick soldier in order to heal him and get information about what happened. Tim’s not that guy. But I feel that these Euro gems deserve more love.

A little moment in one of the last Games Daily episodes made the Slavic blood boil. Rightfully, Greg talked about Darksiders being a lame-ass video game series that does not deserve to be a franchise with four main games and so many re-releases. On the other hand, he put freakin' Darksiders on the exact same level with METRO – a series that keeps single-player FPS old-heads like me sane with Half-Life-inspired gameplay. In a world where Valve stopped developing games decades ago. In a world where Metro’s developers had to flee their home country because a piece of shit Soviet mafia leader is sending cruise missiles into their residential neighborhoods, churches, and hospitals on a daily basis. And they are putting all these traumatic these experiences into the next Metro game! How insane is that! Ukraine is not only giving its all on the battlefield, but also for the sake of single-player experiences. I love my Ukrainian brothers for that.

My heart was warmed by Mike’s following defense of Metro, how he explained the appeal of the series. I love Metro because the atmosphere is so dense, the gameplay is slow, and you have to think about every step and action. The Art Direction is also incredible.

I often think: Slavic RPGs are so much better than what American RPG studios have provided in the last 15 years. Anthem. Mass Effect Andromeda. Fallout 76. But here we are in 2026, still listening to Greg raving regularly about the disappointment of the century, Starfield, instead of the incredible quest design from Cyberpunk 2077 where you can  crucify a dude in a live stream. Eastern Europe is innovating in gaming WHILE BEING INVOLVED IN A FREAKING GROUND WAR AGAINST A NUCLEAR POWER, while the US and its gaming industry is collapsing and hyping up titles that do not deserve it (feel for you though, stay strong US KF best friends).

I will not let this stand, Greg Miller. You need to take back this insult and explain that Darksiders and the legendary Slavic video game series Metro ARE NOT THE SAME.

And from the bottom of my heart, thank you, Mike.

Love you all.
