1. Why has it taken so long for them to leave Tear? I dislike the series the most when it’s just the main characters standing around doing nothing, or when it goes to side characters I don’t care about it. I know this is only going to get worse, but gosh it’s bad.

2. Love to see the characters split up into different pairings that I didn’t see coming. Thom going with the girls is unexpected, and welcomed, and I love Perrin leading his own party. I bit sad I don’t know much about the Ariel he’s with yet. Would have been cool if they were set up more, but I enjoy them a lot.

4. I love seeing Moirain become more and more human as the series progresses. Her POV chapter in the court room was a lot of fun, we get to see how this unknowable and emotionally reserved person really thinks. And I just love seeing her be almost a complete different person than who we know whenever it switches to her POV.

5. The scene of her and Thom playing the game of houses together. Might be my all time favorite chapter in the whole series so far. Two expert manipulators trying to one up each other. I love that stuff.

6. Rand seems so different in the best way. We haven’t gotten a lot of him lately. But I think he seems a lot more interesting. Him naming the horse after his favorite book, and him being less whiney than he was in the first three. He’s becoming a man and I love to see it.

7. My god the romances are all terrible.

Mass effect. There is essentially a citadel, and you are telling me that a race of giant monsters is going to attack the galaxy? I love it

So I just met the maidens of the spear and I’m a little confused as to how the whole thing works. They say that to choose one man and a child they have to put down the spear to never put up again. Got it, makes sense.

But then they talk about something called “first sisters”, where they are so close that if one was to choose a man, the other would have to choose the same one. I think I get what that’s foreshadowing ultimately. But they would have to both put the spears down, and no longer would be a maiden of a spear. So they would no longer be first sisters? Am I missing something?

Perrin is just such a great POV character, his fight scene with the wolves was so incredible, I think that sequence is by far my favorite writing from Jordan. And I love seeing Rand from outside his PoV, he comes across as way more unhinged if we aren’t in his mind.

I can’t wait to read more of the book, which is a new thing for me from this series.

1. The first 100 pages were pretty dull, and I almost didn’t finish the book because of them. I think that I only really care about the five from the two rivers(six if you count thom) so every chapter not about them feels like a slog, at least at the start of the book’

2. The girl Rand meets in the other dimension is the most clearly evil character I’ve ever read and I was so glad when she left.

3. I liked Rand becoming a man and a leader in this one. Shocked about his sword, so I can’t wait to see what he gets to replace it.

4. Perrin is the GOAT. I hear book 3 is mostly Perrin, and I’m so excited.

5. Nyneve reminds me of a lot of my friends. She’s second GOAT.

6. Egwyn, WTF? That was kinda kinky, Robert Jordan was into things.

7. The ending with the banner men. Amazing. 10/10

I won’t spoil anything, but so many things that have happened in Stormlight and Mistborn seem to be directly inspired by events in the wheel of time. I’m on book 2 right now and it’s a blast to see how everything combines.

Mine are “Hey big guy, the sun’s getting real low” whenever a machine at work won’t function properly and someone asks me to fix it.

“Okay (blank) keep your secrets.

I used to use “bye (blank) , hope you find your dad!

And a couple oldies but goodies are the classic “you’re killing me smalls!) and “there is no crying in (blank)!

I love the prose and the characters of the wheel of time, but the pacing is pretty terrible, so Getting through that series is a slog.

I love the fast paced nature of dungeon crawler Carl, but I hate the prose.

I do enjoy both series overall and really wanted to read them. So I started alternating between them, the first time I’ve ever read two books at the same time.

And that’s perfect for me. When I get tired of one, I just go the other.

It’s that he so clearly wants to go an adventures but acts like he doesn’t.

He had ample time to leave and he could have always refused to go, but he goes anyways and acts like he doesn’t obviously long for it.

It’s a fun way to write the “refusing the call” trope.

I see so many people love it. And I want to, I really want to. But every time I try to read the great hunt my eyes just glaze over. It’s just way too slow and it introduces several povs for characters that I just don’t care about.

And I actually really loved the first book. I loved the characters and I thought its slow build up actually worked for the most part.

I don’t know, I love the idea of reading a big fantasy epic. I love the idea of investing so much of my time into this world.

I’ve already read the entire cosmere, I loved that, and I wished I loved this as well.
