Is it recommended to bring a personal ipad, laptop, etc. for classes?

Hello I have a couple of questions:

1. In pictures/videos I’ve seen of r-day, majority of cadets bring a dufflebag or other bag of some sort. Is there a reason why they dont bring a small suitcase?

2. I’ve seen people post about beast on socials- are cameras allowed?
