How strict is Cathay Pacific with cabin bag weight recently? (Flying from Australia via HKG)

Hi everyone,
I’m flying out of Australia soon with Cathay Pacific, with a layover in Hong Kong.
My cabin bag is likely going to be a bit over the official 7kg limit. I wanted to ask any recent travellers—especially those who have departed from Australian airports lately—how strict have the check-in and gate staff been with weighing hand luggage?
Are they actively weighing bags at the counter or boarding gate, or is it mostly relaxed unless the bag looks visibly massive?

Appreciate any recent experiences or tips. Thanks!

491 Visa Holder Marrying Partner on BVA (482) – Questions About Subsequent Entrant and 191 Visa

Hi everyone,
I am currently on a 491 visa, which was granted in 2024. I am planning to marry my partner soon, and we intend to have a court marriage.
My partner is currently on a Bridging Visa A associated with a 482 visa application. After we get married, we plan to apply for her as a subsequent entrant on my 491 visa.
I have a few questions:
After lodging the subsequent entrant application, will she be granted a Bridging Visa A or a Bridging Visa C?
If she receives a Bridging Visa C, what is the process for obtaining a Bridging Visa B if we need to travel overseas?
I am planning to apply for the 191 visa around October next year. If her 491 subsequent entrant application is still being processed at that time:
Can I still apply for my 191 visa?
Or do I need to wait until her 491 visa is granted?
Are there any important considerations, risks, or information that I should be aware of before proceeding with the marriage and subsequent entrant application?
I would appreciate any advice or experiences from people who have been in a similar situation.
Thanks in advance!

4 Island Tour from Phuket Directly in Late July – Worth It? Weather & Tour Advice Needed

Hi everyone,
We are planning a Thailand trip in the last week of July and are running a bit short on dates.
Instead of staying in Krabi, we are thinking of doing the **4 Island Tour directly from Phuket** as a day trip. Has anyone done this before?
A few questions:
Is the 4 Island Tour from Phuket worth it, or is the travel time too much?
How is the weather usually in **late July**? Are tours often cancelled due to rain or rough seas?
Which tour operators would you recommend?
What is the approximate cost for a speedboat tour from Phuket?
Would you suggest the 4 Island Tour, **Phi Phi Islands**, or **James Bond Island** if we can only choose one?
We would appreciate any recent experiences, weather insights, and tour package recommendations.
Thanks in advance! 😊🏝️🇹🇭

First Thailand Trip (6 Nights / 7 Days) – Phuket → Krabi → Bangkok. Need Itinerary & Hostel Recommendations!

Hi everyone,
My 3 friends and I are planning our first trip to Thailand from 22 July to 29 July and would love some advice from people who have done a similar route.
**Trip details:**
6 Nights / 7 Days
Landing in Phuket
Return flight from Bangkok
Group of 4 friends
Looking for a mix of beaches, nightlife, sightseeing, and adventure activities
**Current plan:**
Phuket: 2–3 nights
Krabi: 2 nights
Bangkok: 2 nights
We’re considering traveling from Krabi to Bangkok by overnight bus/train to save time and accommodation costs.
A few questions:
Is this the best split for 7 days, or would you change the number of nights in each place?
What are the best hostels for socializing and meeting other travelers in Phuket, Krabi, and Bangkok?
Which adventure activities are absolutely worth doing? (Jet Ski, ATV, island hopping, snorkeling, scuba diving, zipline, rafting, etc.)
Any must-visit islands or day trips from Phuket/Krabi?
Is the overnight bus/train to Bangkok worth it, or should we just fly?
Any hidden gems, food recommendations, or rookie mistakes we should avoid?
We’re travelling from Australia and want to make the most of our first Thailand experience without feeling rushed.
Thanks in advance!

491 subsequent entrant situation

Hey everyone 👋
I’m currently on a 491 visa, which was granted about 1.5 years ago. I’ve been in a relationship for the past 2 months with someone whose 485 visa is expiring in about a month. She has now received an opportunity for a 482 visa, and because of that she’ll be moving to a regional/country area.
We’re planning to get married outside Australia in around 6 months, and I just wanted to understand a few things regarding adding her to my 491 visa as a subsequent entrant.
My questions are:
•What is the process for adding my spouse to my 491 visa as a subsequent entrant after marriage?

•If her 482 visa gets granted before we apply for the 491 subsequent entrant, can she still apply onshore for the 491 later?

•Once the 491 subsequent entrant application is lodged, would she receive a bridging visa ?Approximately how long does it usually take?

•If she receives the 491 bridging visa, can we withdraw/cancel the 482 visa straight away?

•During the processing period, would she still need to comply with all 482 visa employer obligations and conditions?
•Would adding her as a subsequent entrant have any impact on or delay my eligibility for the 191 PR visa next year?

Has anyone here gone through a similar situation where partners had to temporarily live in different cities due to visa or work commitments?

Would really appreciate any guidance or shared experiences. Thanks 🙏

How?

I’m in Australia, and my parents introduced me to a girl through Shaadi.com. We’ve spoken a couple of times and met 3 times so far, and honestly, everything has been going really well. I feel like I can spend my whole life with her.

The problem is that she’s moving to another city next week because of visa issues, and I feel like it might become harder to stay connected after that.

I’ve already shown some interest from my side, and she has also been genuinely nice to me — talking gently, showing a little care, and making efforts. But I’m still not fully sure whether she sees this seriously for marriage or if she’s just being polite.

Now I’m confused about what I should do next:
- Should I directly tell her that I’m ready to take this forward?
- Should I properly propose my intentions to her first?
- Or should I ask my mom to speak to her parents?

I don’t want to rush things, but I also don’t want to regret staying silent before she moves away.

Would appreciate some honest advice, especially from people who’ve been in arranged marriage/distance situations.
