Built a major update for my outreach tool after listening to feedback from editors (v1.20-beta)

Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago I shared Orty here and got some useful feedback from people who actually do client outreach for a living. I spent the last few weeks rebuilding a big part of it instead of just adding more AI features.

The biggest additions in v1.20-beta are:

  • A local outreach diagnostics panel that tells you why your outreach might not be converting (ghosting, high-score leads with no replies, pitch fatigue, etc.).
  • A proper CRM pipeline with Rated → Contacted → Replied → Meeting → Booked → Ghosted.
  • Weekly goals and a personal insights dashboard so you can actually see if your outreach is improving.
  • Interactive onboarding + demo mode so new users can try the workflow without API keys.
  • Export/import workspace, better loading states, an in-app changelog, and a lot of stability fixes.

I also redesigned the website so you can try a simulated version of the app directly in your browser before downloading it.

I'm mainly looking for honest feedback from editors:

  • What feature is still missing from your outreach workflow?
  • What would actually save you time every week?
  • Is there anything that would stop you from trying a tool like this?

Thanks again to everyone who's been giving feedback. Every update so far has come directly from conversations with editors here, and I'm trying to build something that's genuinely useful rather than just another AI wrapper.

I shipped another update to the desktop app I built for freelance video editors (looking for more beta testers)

Hey everyone!

A few days ago I shared Orty, a Windows desktop app I've been building for freelance video editors. Thanks to this community, I got my first beta testers (seriously, thank you ❤️).

I spent the last couple of days improving the app based on early feedback, and v1.12-beta is now live.

What's new

  • Smarter AI – Better lead analysis, stronger reasoning, and improved outreach drafts.
  • One-click Pro upgrade – If you ever decide to upgrade, it's now much simpler.
  • Update notifications – The app now lets you know when a new version is available, so you don't have to keep checking manually.

For anyone who missed the original post, Orty helps you decide which creators are actually worth reaching out to.

You simply:

  • Drop in a screenshot of a creator's profile.
  • Get an AI-powered fit score.
  • See the reasoning behind the score.
  • Generate a personalized outreach email you can edit and send.

The free version is still available and includes a daily usage limit, so you can test it before deciding if it's useful for your workflow.

I'd genuinely love more feedback from freelance editors.

What feature would make a tool like this something you'd actually use every week?

Looking for a few more freelance video editors to test the app I've been building

Hey everyone,

A few days ago, I shared Orty on Reddit, and to my surprise, 5 freelance video editors from the US, Czech Republic, India, and Türkiye downloaded the app and started testing it. One of them even commented that they'd come back with an honest review after using it.

That gave me the motivation to keep improving it.

Orty is a Windows desktop app built specifically for freelance video editors.

Instead of spending time researching creators before sending cold emails, you simply drop a screenshot of their YouTube or Instagram profile into the app.

Orty will:

  • Analyze whether they're likely to be a good client.
  • Explain why it gave that score.
  • Generate a personalized outreach email based on the analysis.

The free version is fully usable and includes a daily analysis limit, so you can test the workflow before deciding whether it's useful for you.

I'm not trying to sell anything with this post. I'm looking for honest feedback from editors who actually do cold outreach.

🌐 Website: https://getorty.vercel.app

⬇️ Free Download (Whop): https://whop.com/orty

I'd love to know:

  • Would this fit into your workflow?
  • What's missing?
  • What would make this something you'd actually use every week?

Feel free to be brutally honest. Every piece of feedback helps me improve the app, and I'd really appreciate hearing what you think.

Thanks! 🙌

Looking for freelance video editors to test a desktop app I built

Hey everyone,

Over the past few months, I've been building Orty, a Windows desktop app designed specifically for freelance video editors.

The goal isn't to edit videos—it's to help you find better clients faster.

Here's how it works:

  • Drop in a screenshot of a creator's YouTube or Instagram profile.
  • Orty analyzes whether they're a good fit for your editing services.
  • It explains its reasoning.
  • It generates a personalized outreach email you can customize and send.

I'm still in beta, and I'm looking for honest feedback from real freelance editors.

If you're interested, you can learn more here:
Website: https://getorty.vercel.app

You can also download the beta here:
Whop: https://whop.com/orty

I'm not asking anyone to buy anything. I'm simply trying to learn:

  • Would this actually fit into your workflow?
  • What features are missing?
  • What would stop you from using it?

Any feedback—positive or negative—would mean a lot. Thanks!

Anyone else had Google autocorrect your brand name to something else entirely?

Just found out Google search treats my product name ("Orty") as a likely typo for Getty Images, and suggests that instead, even though my site is confirmed indexed in Search Console.

Apparently this happens to new domains/brand names that don't yet have enough backlinks or search volume for Google to trust them as real, intentional terms rather than typos.

Curious if anyone's dealt with this and what actually helped, more backlinks, a different domain, just time? Trying to figure out if there's anything actionable here beyond waiting.

Launched solo, got my first real Product Hunt feedback, just got approved on AlternativeTo. Small wins add up.

Wanted to share where things actually stand as a solo founder, not just the highlight reel.

I built Orty, an AI tool that scores potential clients before you cold-email them, specifically for freelance video editors. Built it alone, out of my own real problem: months of guessing who was worth emailing, generic pitches, basically no replies.

Since launching:

- Real feedback on Product Hunt, including someone who tested it on an actual creator and told me exactly what felt generic in the drafted email, genuinely useful, specific criticism

- A technical critique on Reddit that I took seriously, responded to honestly, and the critic came back and agreed with my reframing

- Just got approved on AlternativeTo today

- Cold emails started showing up from directory sites and blogs once I had any public visibility at all, which nobody warned me about

Still very early. Still figuring out the marketing side more than the building side. But the product itself holds up under real scrutiny, and that matters more to me right now than the numbers.

If you're solo too, curious what's actually been the hardest part for you, the building or the getting-people-to-care part? For me it's been the second one, by a lot.

I built an AI tool that scores whether a client is worth cold-emailing (as a video editor tired of guessing) — sent 25 real emails with it last week

Quick context: I'm a freelance video editor, and for months I did the

thing basically everyone does — scroll Instagram and YouTube, guess

who might need an editor, fire off a generic email, and hear nothing

back. It genuinely felt like throwing darts blindfolded.

So I built Orty. You drop in a screenshot of someone's profile, and

it scores them 1-10 on whether they're actually a good fit for your

editing style and rates — not some generic engagement score that

means nothing. For a more accurate read, you can also add a screen

recording of their actual videos, so it's judging their real pacing

and style, not just guessing from a static profile page. If it's a

good fit, it writes the outreach email for you. If it's not, it just

tells you to skip it, which honestly saves more time than the emails

ever did.

There's also a Co-Pilot thing I'm pretty proud of — when someone

actually replies, you paste what they said and it drafts your next

message, pulling from your own rate card so it never makes up a

price you didn't actually set.

One more thing I genuinely didn't expect to matter as much as it

does: there's a Self-Healing tab that catches errors and explains

what actually went wrong in plain English, instead of just crashing

on you with some cryptic stack trace. Small thing, but it's saved me

a lot of confusion while building this solo.

I used it to send 25 real outreach emails last week. Not a "could

theoretically help you" — that's just what happened when I started

using it on myself.

A few honest details, since I figure this crowd cares about the

specifics:

- Everything runs locally on your machine. Nothing's scraped,

nothing's uploaded — you take the screenshots and recordings

yourself, same as you always would.

- You bring your own free Groq and Gemini API keys, so there's no

subscription and I genuinely never see your data or usage.

- It's a real beta. One person building this, still finding and

squashing edge cases as they show up.

- $29 one-time. Not free, I know — but I'd rather build something

that actually works well than something free and mediocre.

Not trying to drop a link and disappear — happy to answer anything

about how it works, why I built it the way I did, or just talk

through the outreach problem in general if that's more useful to

people here.
