Mothership One-Shot this Wednesday (Tooting Broadway)

Hi Everyone

Looking for one or two more players for a Mothership one shot this Wednesday 20/05 - session will start at 18.30 and we will be finished by 10pm

Will be located in a pub 5 mins walk from Tooting Broadway with a nice semi-private room

We'll make characters at the beginning of the session which is quick (and quite fun) - absolutely no experience needed, the system is very rules light and easy to learn as you play

This will be a welcoming and inclusive table for all players including LGBT+

As it is a horror game we will also discuss content warnings and sensitivity ahead of the session

Thanks for reading!

Hi All

I am not super experienced with TTRPGs so looking for some advice from the community

I saw the trailer for the 5e Neon Odyssey supplement and immediately fell in love with the vibe - my dream campaign would be a Firefly/Cowboy Bebop/Millenium Falcon scoundrel bounty hunter story

However I am unsure how good of a system 5e would be to run this kind of setting - people on here often seem to complain about people trying to reskin D&D for a purpose when there are better adjusted systems for the setting

I have run games in 5e and Mothership - I love Mothership's simplicity but do not think I would want to run a longer story and enjoy it for high stakes one shots - I do enjoy running D&D and its easy to find players for but I am starting to find that the combat tends to drag and balancing encounters seems very imprecise and unfun for me as the DM

Another note is that while I like to homebrew some stories and ideas, I am unlikely to create a whole homebrew universe and the Neon Odessey books seem to promise a very detailed 'world' that I could play around with

I have looked at Scum and Villany and while it looks interesting I have not played Forged in the Dark system before and I struggle to understand how parts of the gameplay work

So I ask - does anyone have a game with similar levels of detail that would fit the theme I am looking for? Or is Neon Odessey seeming like my best option here?

Thank you!!
