What is the best OS game system

Hey, would love to know what the community thinks is the best (most versatile) OS game system?
There are so many to chose from: OSE, Shadowdark, knave, Cairn, Black hack, white hack, Nimble, Dolmenwood etc etc.
I’ve avoided 5E for years and much prefer simpler games. Tried AFF but was a bit to drop. Loved Mork Borg to read and look at, but found the combat a very dull. DCC was to table driven.
So yes, I’m looking for the Goldilocks zone of an RPG. Shadowdark looks pretty good but so does Nimble (appreciate it might be heretical to infer it’s an OS game lol).
I’m sure there’s some obvious ones I’ve left out.
I want a go to system for fantasy ‘setting neutral’ campaigns please. Oh and the winning lotto numbers while you’re at it.

[IRL] Looking For a Beginner Friendly Group in South West (SW19) London

Hey peeps!

I’m Louie I am looking for a group to start playing in my first proper campaign. Not experienced in DND but loved Baldurs Gate 3 and would love to have some fun roleplaying in the real world.

Pretty easy going for days and don’t mind traveling further out of SW19 so long as there are easy routes

Feel free to drop me a message if you have a space for me!

Cheers,

Do you have some advice to do TTRPG in London for a couple from France?

Hello AskUK.

My wife and I, we're coming in London from France at the 27 august to the 5 September. At first to get to see the AEW All In Show, I was expecting to search for a TTRPG shop and if possible to try one in english.

My wife is fluent in English and I'm not bad at all (even if I make sometimes somes mistakes)

Do you have some recommendations, advice, anything that could help us?

Thanks in advance.

[OSE] Brave Adventurers wanted for open table mega dungeon central london!

Hi guys, my name is Connor, I am DM an Oen Table Megadungeon game using Old School Essentials (Advanced) running every Monday evening (6;30 star) at the Tower Bridge Arms I’m looking for new players to expand our ever growing roster of adventurers. The Campaign is centered around a legendary megadungeon called Stonehell and the surrounding lands. Stonehell was once a prison for the fiercest crimimals of the realm - few who venture there return but those who do are changed and report visions of much stranger sights than bandits and cutthroats...

Our system is Old School Essentials a modern retelling of the Basic and Expert dungeons and dragons rule set from the mid-70s. The game is about player skill, gritty exploration and looting glittering hoards of treasure in the dark deep places of the world.

Our game is open table which means every session begins and ends in the Keep - the last bastion of law in a realm of utmost chaos! This allows for a rotating cast of players; players can join sessions whenever is most convenient for them and there is no obligation to attend every session. Those who do gain the most treasure and EXP!

We have a really welcoming group, It's great to have new players at the table. We have mix of grognards , utterly brand new players and it's a ton of fun. If you’ve never played an RPG before you’re very welcome to our game and our group. Likewise if you’re an experienced player with a +2 Vorpal Sword and your old Ad&D books in your Bag of Holding there is plenty going on beneath Stonehell to keep your 10ft pole and your iron spikes busy for hopefully months and months of playtime

Our next session is on the 29th of June at 6:30pm at Tower Bridge Arms. If you‘re interested hop on to our discord server, introduce yourself and head to the #newplayerchannel, then RSVP on the next event you can attend on the Calendar!

[IRL] Looking For a Beginner Friendly Group in South / East London [LFG]

Hi! I'm Sky and I am looking ideally for a group to start doing my first proper campaign with. Not fussed with which version or campaign it is, but would love to get better at roleplaying and just have a bit of fun.

I am a very avid gamer and have played many games set in similar settings to DnD for hundreds of hours, just have never gotten around to giving it a try in person.
Feel free to drop me a message if you have a space for me!

Pretty easy going for days and locations as long as its either central or south east ish,

Thanks,
