PLAYERS WANTED — DOLMENWOOD CAMPAIGN, SOUTH CROYDON

I'm putting together a small group for a regular (fortnightly), in-person Dolmenwood campaign at The Story Sanctuary in South Croydon.

Dolmenwood is a weird, folkloric fantasy RPG of ancient woods, strange fairies, forgotten ruins, dangerous creatures and slightly odd people. Think British folklore and dark fairy tales rather than traditional high fantasy.

We'll begin by playing through some of the excellent published Dolmenwood adventures, exploring the Wood and getting to know the characters and setting. From there, I'd love to let the campaign develop naturally around the stories, rivalries, mysteries and terrible decisions that emerge through play.

I'm looking for players who enjoy exploration, roleplaying, problem-solving and discovering a world together. You don't need to know Dolmenwood—or even be an experienced RPG player. Curiosity and a willingness to get involved are far more important.

WHAT: Dolmenwood campaign
WHERE: The Story Sanctuary, South Croydon
WHEN: Saturday afternoons or Sundays — schedule agreed by the group.
This is an in-person event• New and experienced players welcome
VENUE COST: £8–£10 per session, including unlimited tea & coffee.
The session fee goes to The Story Sanctuary to help cover the cost of opening and running the community space (and includes unlimited tea and coffee). My time as GM, including all campaign preparation is free.

WHY: RPG's are fun! Meet some new like-minded people! Plus The Story Sanctuary is a relaxed, neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ affirming community space (in the old Sanderstead Library building) that needs local support to keep it going.

For now, I'm simply looking to find the right group of people and work out a regular schedule that suits us.

If wandering around a strange old forest tinged with twisted fey magic sounds like your kind of thing, drop me a DM and say hello.

Best Jo

RPG Players Needed South Croydon

Hey! I'm looking for people to build a regular tabletop RPG community at The Story Sanctuary in South Croydon. The Story Sanctuary is a neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ affirming community space in the old Sanderstead Library building. It's a wonderfully relaxed venue and the perfect place for RPGs and board games. A friend and I are running two one-shot RPG sessions (5E and Dolmenwood) next Sunday, from 2pm–6pm, and we'd love this to be the start of a regular club where people can meet, play great games, and build a friendly local TTRPG community. Tickets are £5 per person, which includes unlimited tea and coffee. Every penny goes towards helping keep this fantastic community space open. If you're interested or have any questions, just drop me a DM. Links are below. Hope to see you there! What is the best OS game system

Hey, would love to know what the community thinks is the best (most versatile) OS game system?
There are so many to chose from: OSE, Shadowdark, knave, Cairn, Black hack, white hack, Nimble, Dolmenwood etc etc.
I’ve avoided 5E for years and much prefer simpler games. Tried AFF but was a bit to drop. Loved Mork Borg to read and look at, but found the combat a very dull. DCC was to table driven.
So yes, I’m looking for the Goldilocks zone of an RPG. Shadowdark looks pretty good but so does Nimble (appreciate it might be heretical to infer it’s an OS game lol).
I’m sure there’s some obvious ones I’ve left out.
I want a go to system for fantasy ‘setting neutral’ campaigns please. Oh and the winning lotto numbers while you’re at it.

Dolmenwood Winters Daughter

Hi, is anyone else finding Winter’s daughter a little meh? I’ve run it a handful of times and find myself increasingly puzzled by the variety of elements that don’t really seem to have any significants to the story. Eg the missing statue and the scratch marks, bizarre dancing skeletons (why? What is the ooze in their chamber?) and a bit of an anti climatic ending. I’m sure it just my poor GM’ing but I’m starting to think of making some changes. Has anyone done the same? I’m not a big fan of ‘silly’ in adventures TBH so maybe this module just isn’t for me. Be interested I. Any constructive thoughts from the community. Jo
